Despite 3 people in this thread that were severs, all claiming the same thing, he's accusing me of being racist for basically reiterating what they've told us. I then ask him a hypothetical question to prove my point, which he won't answer and all he does is keep calling me racist...lol.

For all you waiters claiming poor house syndrome where every customer should be obligated to pay tips, here's what happened to me on Friday.

I gave $1.00 tip out of pity. I actually felt like giving zero:

- Ate lunch at restaurant that was empty except for me and another table
- The two people serving were dicking around almost the entire time at the back or roaming around the kitchen out of view
- I had to refill my own glass of water by going to the station and grabbing a jug myself as the two people stood around gabbing
- The setting has no knife, but I wanted a knife. Didn't see either person, so I went back to the station and grabbed my own knife
- Food was half cold too (I guess that's the cook's fault)
- Bill was about $15
- I gave $1

So how much tip do any of you disgruntled waiters wanted me to give?

As a former server of over 20 years this is spot on.

As a server it is important to know which customers to spend your time and attention as it can effect your bottom line significantly. In general the darker the skin the worse the tip and males tip more than females. Some places charge as high as 8-9% tip out so if you get a group of young black females there is a high chance you might be paying to serve them and they will break your balls. Of course there are exceptions ,Germans are horrible tippers and will expect the moon. Koreans are the best out of the Asian community and Filipino the worst. I could write a book how accurate these generalizations are.

Makes sense. Germans are a pragmatic people. Just one more reason to love them.

I worked in a restaurant too way back. But it was mostly white people, so I didn't really notice the differences.

But heck, I would read your book! Would be hilarious.

Of course, liberal lefties would cry foul and say that every gender, race, age, social status etc.... tip the exact same amount. But we all know in life, different people do things differently... hence, that's why there are things called stereotypes.

As a server you did the right thing. And I wouldn't have left them the buck but requested a little talk with the manager as well.

As I've stated. I hate bad service. And happily point it out.

Tip shaming and businesses upping the percentages now to 20,25 and 30 percent.
Plus off course tipping on the after tax amount instead of the pretax amount.

Last time I used a taxi to the airport he told me the flat rate given by the company was too low.
He was already late and I had no choice.
I told him I'd give him an extra $10.
Probably tries this on everyone.
Fucker stood up there while I loaded my own bags into the trunk.
At the airport he sat in the car on his phone while I off loaded my own luggage.
In retrospect, should have at least left his trunk lid open so he would have to come out to close it.
After this I started using Uber instead.
One of the major downfalls of tipping is entitlement.
You don't have to do fuck all when you can get a tip anyway.
