Athletics' rookie Carlos Cortes did something in the August 10, 2025 game which has probably never been done before in a Major League game, despite playing only two innings, having no fielding chances, and no plate appearances.

What did he do?
Cortez naturally throws left-handed, but he is also ambidextrous. He entered the game in the eighth inning as a defensive replacement in right field. For the ninth inning, he was moved to third base, and used a borrowed glove on his left hand. I don't think any other player has played two different fielding positions as a left-handed and as a right-handed thrower. This has been done by pitchers.

Note in the image, (B/T), he is listed as a left-handed batter and a Switch thrower.

I'll lob a softball to the regulars on this thread.

Name the two players in Toronto Maple Leaf history that share the same name. I only know of two, but if there are more please let me know.

See post #6371 for the answer.

In the Expansion Era, (post 1960), one player who won the Most Valuable Player award for each of the AAA minor leagues of baseball, (International League, Pacific Coast League, American Association), was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame following their Major league careers as players.

Name as many as you can.

K Douglas correctly identified Barry Larkin and Jim Rice.

One Stump.
Tony Perez, (HoF Class of 2000), was MVP of the Pacific Coast League in 1964, while playing for the San Diego Padres.

Who is the only player to have been named MVP of two different AAA leagues?

Hint: His extraordinary statistics in a small sample for the 1977 Major League season made him MVP of many Strat-O-Matic baseball leagues which used the 1978 edition.
Roger Freed.

Freed played professional baseball from 1966-1980, (age 20-34). He was the MVP of the International League in 1970, while playing for the Baltimore Orioles' AAA affiliate, (Rochester Red Wings). After bouncing around through a few organizations, Freed won the American Association MVP in 1976, batting .309 with 42 HRs and 102 RBIs for the Denver Bears, (Montreal Expos organization). He was 3/15 with 1 RBI for the 1976 Expos before moving to the St Louis Cardinals in the Rule 5 Draft.

In 1977, Freed batted .398 with 5 HRs, 21 RBIs and a 1.090 OPS in 83 at bats.
