Good price. Hope you have wheels, Newark can be pretty dead at night. Any shuttles to Mahattan?
It all depends on whether Meister is writing of the Gateway Center Hilton or the Airport Hilton.
The Gateway Hilton is right next to Penn Station Newark (Northeast Corridor) and has little delay for trains into Penn Station, New York as well as PATH trains to Lower Manhattan. If he refers to the Airport Hilton you probably will need a taxi to get to the airport rail station if you do not have a car.

If you intend on spending most of your time in Manhattan, avoid having a car as parking is a total rip-off (it was like 25-30USD per 8 hours when I was there last before 9/11, so it could be just outrageous now). My suggestion is to avoid having a car altogether if flying in or make sure whatever hotel you stay at has free parking, then you can leave it there while you explore the city on foot (which quite frankly is the only way to experience it).

I agree completely. However, I go down there on business and my customers are in Jersey and CT so I need a car anyways. The only time I visit Manhattan is at night and then you can get cheap meter parking.

Thanks, good to know an alternative.

You're missing the best part. The assertive NYC rush-hour drive.:)

Schedule your bathroom visit before hitting Holland tunnel.
