I don't think it will cross the border to Canada. Strictly New York state politics, just a way for the state to make money by placing a sin tax on a sin that the majority of people could care less about.

Think the last Erie County Fiscal review showed a massive deficit budget due to neoptism and abuse of the system...guess they are taxing everything they can....but hey, at least the politicians will be paying tax now too....
