Special objection: I think you are too self-confident of your knowledge and insight of the U.S. political system.

Yes, I would guess AOC has her eye on Chuck Schumer's seat in 2028. Beyond that is anyone's guess.

You're missing recent history where Obama and Harris left their first-term Senate seats to run for President.

It would also not be unheard for a Presidential candidate to select a congressperson to be on their ticket as Vice President. Thanks to new media and her charisma AOC's national profile is higher than most Senators and Governor.

As far as the power of Senate committees, sitting in the minority is very frustrating.
She would be 38 when campaigning started. That is a liability. Sorry she needs age to be considered a contender.

Obama is an outlier. Seriously his Charisma is off the charts. And Harris didn't do well did she?

I stand be the prediction. If she does then she is the dumb assed one listening to the wrong people. Her time is 11 years away minimum.

I didn't say AOC would run for President in 2028. However, I don't think she is going to wait until she is 50. She could also be in the mix as a VP running mate for a lot of 2028 Presidential aspirants.

First, AOC might very well be a national political talent. In regards to Harris, AOC only has to think she is better than Harris to make a go at it in the future.

Strangely, we have some members on this exact thread trying to tell us Harris was a good candidate. I feel like that is disingenuous and a bit similar to exalting the deceased at a funeral. I don't think Harris will ever again be prominent on the national political stage.

Your entitled to your opinion, but in this case I don't think it warranted the demeaning condescension directed at another member.

It's pie in the sky thinking. It's wish casting. Seriously. That's why my tone is so dismissive. I think she has learned some lessons. Including the power of donors, and the old school hold moderates still have on the reigns of power. I think she is receiving sage advice from Sanders.

A progressive figure like her, with the platform she believes in, needs the right conditions to be elected. An extended economic turndown, coupled with world uncertainty, and an oligarchy to fight out in the open. We are near to there. But not quite.

Her fundraising is expanding, but not enough for the big run. She still has rookie baggage that a few terms in the Senate will take care of. And once we see an increase in progressive wins in other places that actually mean something then it could happen.

This turn will be Newsom trying to lock it in. Through more backdoor politics.

I would predict a Newsom/Harris ticket in 2028. Harris might start out running, but she can only making it into office behind Newsom.

they hate each other that would never happen.

Keep her out of it.
never again
She’s all that said she’s running, when she ruled out race for governor and retiring is really only one job for it to run for.

I read they're positioning AOC to run in 2028. I don't think either side has great politicians.
AOC has a choice to make, she can primary Chuck Schumer for his Senate seat (that would be a lock as poles have her 30 points above Schumer) or she can run for president. she has a communication skills to make a run at the presidential nomination, I’m not sure she has the depth. People I respect consider her a tier one candidate., far better than Kamala

How about Newsom / Jeffries you guys?
Jefferies is considered by many all lightweight. I don’t think there’s any chance he’d even run.

Like I said. she didn't have enough timie to campaign because democrats doubled down on Biden...IMO...it wasn't Kamala's fault...Pelosi and Schumer basically pulled all the strings last minute. I know you're a "never Trumper" that's not the point...aren't we talking about democrats right now? nothing to do with Trump. Gavin is worse than Kamala LMAO.
I disagree. I think Gavin is a better political athlete, ,Kamala was weak, indecisive, and spoken word salads. The longer the campaign went on the less people liked her. She got the vote. She got because she was running against Trump. No way she survive a primary.

Anyone who thinks AOC is running in just plain dumb assed. She has her eye on Chuck Schumers seat. She knows that after a few terms and turnovers she will be able to get on committees and have real power. And launch for either Governor or President or both in her 50's.

She will endorse. That will be her only involvement in this primary.
you could be right she’s going to do one of the other.

One thing to keep in mind, the Dems have to decide who’s leading the Party, the traditional liberals or the Socialists. AOC/Sanders or Newsom, Mayor Pete or one of the Governors.

I'm pretty sure Sanders is keeping her expectations grounded. There is a very large ground game that needs to happen.
not an accident they are on tour together.

they stole it from Sanders in 20, he knows he’s too old, he’s grooming her.

Sanders has been backing her and I think Sanders is sane enough to not run at his age.
Nobody needs another old man running right now.
You have to read the touring as Sanders passing on the baton and anointing AOC as the left candidate.

Newsom can do the trolling and take on whoever is after trump.
But AOC is smarter and better on her feet, and has street cred.

The question is who will be taking over for the GOP after trump is sent to the home.
Vance is next in line but I expect he'd be less popular than PeePee here.

For now it's still the donors until the economy tanks enough.

if only they had a candidate as good as PeePee or trump
Seems Trump got elected at least twice, so maybe not such a bad candidate. What's your point? If Newsom, who has messed up California is the best you can think of, that's not much. I would consider a more moderate like Shapiro to be a better candidate.
