The trampoline screen at the back of the end zone in Arena Football was a better solution.

I see teams making line-drive kickoffs aimed at the head of one of the receiving team's players standing around their own 35 yard line, hoping for a ricochet to one of the kicking team players standing at the 40.

I don't know what would prevent the kicker from just 'bunting' the ball ten yards and recovering it himself.

This is going to look really silly when a kick returner feigns touching the ball, to try to get one of the kicking team players to move prematurely.

We'll probably see a lot of lateral passes from one kick returner to the other.

The kicking team being essentially forced to make playable kicks and the need for the receiving team to play those kicks is absolutely a good thing.

The lack of a run up will make for fewer big hits though I find it hard to really believe the NFL cares about player welfare (except for star QB's).
