The quote that he mentions is all tthe way at the end of that article.
Yes your right I didn't see that;however; contingency plan does not mean "done deal". Not even close

The Research In Motion founder has made contingency plans to relocate the franchise to Hamilton.
con·tin·gen·cy

1. dependence on chance or on the fulfillment of a condition; uncertainty; fortuitousness: Nothing was left to contingency.

Which means if everything else fails. I would not buy box seats just yet. (Unless it helped getting on Badkat's client list. :))

Isnt there a rule or something that says the Leafs and the Sabres have to agree with the move because Hamilton is so close to there markets?
Yes lots of posts in the Sports threads on this topic.

Ballsilie will probably pay the required fine for moving there, he wants a team badly and has the money to do it. I also heard that that particular arrangement was imposed so long ago that it may not stand up in court.

I guess u missed the "?" at the end of the thread title.

The question mark (?) (also known as an interrogation point, query, or eroteme) is a punctuation mark that replaces the full stop at the end of an interrogative sentence.

It can also be used mid-sentence to mark a merely interrogative phrase, where it functions similarly to a comma, such as in the single sentence "Where shall we go? and what shall we do?", but this usage is increasingly rare. The question mark is not used for indirect questions. The question mark character is also often used in place of missing or unknown data.

I can use Wikipedia too.

I saw the question mark. I just figured comprehension was the issue. If the wasn't please accept my most sincerely apology.

Actually I didn't use Wikipedia but good for you.

Buffalo is going to be bitter because they are about to lose their #1 player, Chris Drury. Do you think they would allow such close competition when 17% of Buffalo's ticket purchases come from the Hamilton, Niagara, K-W region??

Buffalo is in a fragile market. Remember only a few years ago- they were about to lose their team and fighted off bankruptcy!

Buffalo never had a concern about bankruptcy due to how much money they were making they were close to bankruptcy cause the owner was a crook and was stealing money from the team and owed huge back payments from tax evasion.

Think a Hamilton team is a possibility.

The NHL may just have to accept it. NAFTA and various other commercial agreements re: manopolies in both Canada and the US, put the 80 mile rule in jeopardy.

Ron Joyce was squashed but did not push it with the Competition Bureau at the Department of Industry.

Apparently they may feel the 80 mile rule violates Competition policy.

Balsillie is a different cat than Joyce with a different agenda.

He is investing bucks and time and will not roll over.

The NHL may be embarrased into it.

Hope so!

For Arguements sake, they should come to the KW area. Out of Toronto's Distance as well outside Buffalo's. Anywhere they place a team in Southern ontario, the team will do really well. Ottawa was a wrong pick for a spot for a team. KW, London would be great spots for teams.

I am not sure but I herd it was possible and it would be cool to have a team near Toronto . I still like Toronto but 1967 was the last cup and I was not even around then
