just to let you know, all Canadian dealer service shops now have to honour warranties on US bought vehicles providing the warranty has not been voided. I just had to get my tranny serviced on our 2010 Jeep Wrangler. and when I first moved to Canada I had to fix an electrical issue with my 07 Subaru.
You guys pay stupid prices for your cars here. yeah, i know- economies of scales stuff. but that need not be. just get a loan or loc from your bank, arrange the vehicle of your choice in Buffalo, Erie, Rochester or Detroit and make out a final US$ bank draft to them, call your insurance provider and give them the VIN of your vehicle, go down and get it, with a trip permit... bring it to the border, pay the RIV fee and bring it to a Canadian Tire to have the mechanical inspection done to it, then go to the license MTO office, pay to get plates, put them on and voila! it's that easy and you can save nearly 30% on some vehicles. 5% on others (particularly ones made here in Ontario)
which is rediculous to think you can save money if you live in Alliston and you go to buffalo to buy your Honda! but, it's so true.
why not? is wrong in saying it can take months. Canadian Tire has all of the necessary modifications needed in stock for nearly all vehicles. and also, the near border US dealerships are familiar in what is required in Canada, so you can pay for the needed options there, such as Daytime running lights, etc.. but, alot of vehicles in many states now have those anyways.
I'm currently looking to buy a bike in the next four weeks. will definitely be from the US. i'll let you know how simple the process is as I do it.
