Now that I have retired

If you had an autism level of focus like me you could do a thing you like all day and forget to eat, shower, use the bathroom... pretty much forget everything exists around you until you're done. Lol

I hope you find hobbies you love. It does get easier. Start to enjoy the finer things in life, like Picton! Wineries, beaches and top notch restaurants.

I haven't been to a single winery or beach since I moved here but I heard it's nice. I move out here for the simple life.

I might buy some chickens and make birdhouses to sell to tourists. Lol.

Most people i know continue to work. My grandfather worked until he died. Overseeing things at the office. Not really running things, just popping in and making decisions. Making sure people remembered his face.

My mother retired a decade ago and still worked.

I know more people who work at least part time.

It's hard to just stop working.

I agree and I'd go even farther and say let's stop calling it "work" at this point. Stay "busy"... that's the key. If it means a part time gig at Home Depot or volunteering somewhere, it's a reason to get out of bed and feel useful. Hobbies also provide the same sense of purpose and if you can make some cash with your hobby that's a bonus. At least that way you can turn your hobbies into a "project based" little business where you do things on your terms. Then... there's also a big beautiful world out there waiting for you to discover.

When people say 'travel,' it doesn't always mean splurging on overseas trips. There are plenty of things to do in Canada, and with a reliable car you can do anything from a day trip to as long as you wish. Pretty soon I'll be putting my canoe on the roof of my car and it doesn't go back in the yard until October. At the end of May I'm heading east to take a leisurely trip along the St. Lawrence for some birding and whale watching, then out to the Magdalen Islands. And without being tied down by work I don't really have to schedule much, except for ferries and tours.

Now that I retired I realize it’s a shame that the only thing a person can do for a full day's work is work. You can’t eat all day; you can’t drink all day, you can’t have sex all day. The only thing you can do for a full day is work.

How sad. Time for hobbies. I can think of many things to do. If you’re someone who ever uses the word “bored“ you haven’t figured life out
