When I was a kid there were certain smells I associated with certain buildings, and they weren't offensive. I can only assume it was because of specific cleaning agents that were used. Here are some examples.
--when I was a kid I used to tag along with my Dad to the local Canadian Tire. I found it had a unique smell to it.
--as a kid I used to go to the local library regularly, and again it had a certain odour I only experienced there.

Back in the day, many people used to burn their raked leaves; I recall that leaf fires had a pleasant smell.

Horse manure.

Some newsstand magazines, new issues of Playboy in the 1970's, in particular.

The rubber smell in a Canada Tire store.

Cumin seeds.

I know several people who 'love the smell of their own ass '.

Bailey's Irish Cream.

The smoke smell of bonfires and/or burning leaves (when that was a common thing), the smoky smell on clothes from burned leaves, the clean air smell after a cooling rainfall, diesel fuel fumes.

That sweet smell of marjiuana or hashish from the 1970's.

That smell of a diesel bus that we used to travel on in the 1970's across Canada and on the hippie trail through Europe and Asia.

OK, one more. I used to change the motor oil in my cars in the 1970's as well. That hot motor oil smell.

Freshly cut lawn early in the season.

Feel like a kid again everytime I smell it. The promise of summer just around the corner.

That's interesting. I thought most people enjoyed the smell of coffee even if they don't like drinking coffee.
I have a total aversion to the taste and smell of coffee.

It even bothers me if somebody has "coffee breath".

Over the years I have on occasion tried a sip, as I agree it seems most people love it. So I wonder why I don't.

But nope, every time I tried it, it was the same thing. I don't even like Coffee Crisp chocolate bars, and I love chocolate....
