Off to Amsterdam..

I'll be heading off to Amsterdam in a few weeks with a few others and I was hoping for your help. If anyone has any advice on places to go, I'd appreciate it. I've read the old posts but I'm hoping some of you may have recent experiences to add..

- We'll be in Amsterdam for a while and would like to do a side trip or two. Any recommendations? I've heard Dusseldorf can be fun. What about elsewhere in Germany, the Netherlands or Belgium?
- Any input on the Partytreffs/FKKs?
- Any places we shouldn't miss in Amsterdam itself?

do you smoke pot?
if so, smoke a little then boot on down to the Van Gogh museum
maybe it "cheapens" the art to be high, but I was beyond fascinated, looking at and discovering the paintings in that state of mind

try a lady in the red light district just for self satisfaction and to say that you've done it, but for a real good experience try to find a reputable outcall agency

Amsterdam is like my second home, I been there 3 times and one of my ex gf's is Dutch



- coffeshops, go to "The Green House", thats the best coffeshop in town. Lots of celebs and rappers go there and smoke weed.

- Red Light District. It's called "De Wallen" in Holland. U must hav heard about it. SP's are standing behind windows and the atmosphere is great.

- Museums, Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Rembrand, Stedelijk.

-Shopping: Kalverstraat, Leidsestraat. For Gucci, Prada, LV, Armani, go to PC Hoofdstraat.

- Clubs: Rembrand Plein,(lots of clubs such as Escape are located there.), Melkweg, Leidseplein (lots of bars are there, including Bulldog)

-Sport, u might wanna check ArenA, thats Ajax stadium, there is also a huge mall there.

- Sightseeing, u can go to Madame Tussaud, Sex Museum, Dam Square etc.

Rent the movie Hostel and be carefull....

Checkout the top floor cafeteria spend an afternoon eyeing dutch eye candies. The french pastry place across the street from them is a great daytime hangout. Forgot the name of the chain, as they're near many EU train stations with danish & tarts.

Dam square is good meeting place. If there's female in the group, there's Diamond factory tours.

Hop over to Brussels for their magical winter lights. Be sure to sample their beer.

The Red Light District is very hit or miss I find. I was there for a few months.
Best time to hang around there is weekend nights.

Don't go to the live sex shows, they're a waste of money.
Smoke weed, but don't eat space cake!
Stedelijk Museum was my favourite museum, but try em all!
Aside that, have loads of fun man!

I did the same thing when I lived there..it was an awesome experience..at the time.

Of course, I'll be hitting the Red Light District, the Heineken Brewery, the Van Gogh Museum - all of the usual stuff.

In terms of a side trip - would anyone recommend Brussels? The Hague? What about somewhere close in Germany?
