I just discovered "Opera" browser - have been using Firefox mostly and just wondering if anyone has had experience with this as an alternative to exporer. It has some nice features and is very fast - even faster than Firefox.
heard of it, but back in its infancy i tried it and it was crap. willing to try it again, any link?drrogers said:I just discovered "Opera" browser - have been using Firefox mostly and just wondering if anyone has had experience with this as an alternative to exporer. I can see why you thought it was crap.fantasiafan said:heard of it, but back in its infancy i tried it and it was crap. willing to try it again, any link?
Cobster said:i tried it, yah it's faster, BUT, i like how you can customize the hell out of FFox.
As for Opera, i feel sorry for people who bought the full blown version a few weeks before Opera decided to make it completely free...that would have sucked.

I still cannot even get it to accept rollyo searches - keeps telling me there is a problem with the software - strange it works on my laptop but not on my desktop. I have tried with the most recent version as well.
I said that in a previous thread on favourite browsers.WoodPeckr said:Plus it's very porn friendly.
If FireFox crashes and you have that "restore" extensions installed, it'll ask you if you want to "restore your session" from before. Same deal. =)WoodPeckr said:Opera has versions that work on both Windows and Mac.
Some other good points are Opera uses less PC resources than IE.
IE is a resouce-hog like many MS programs. FFox is also good on using less resources than IE.
Tabbed browsing is great. At times I will have 10 tabs open and running at a time.
Which brings up another good Opera feature.
Say you have those 10 tabs open while doing some multitasking and run into a bad weblink while surfing that causes your browser to freeze, lockup from going into an 'illegal operation' and shut down. When you reopen Opera it will say it noted you had a problem last time on, and Opera will ask you if you want to go back to where you were at when it crashed. If you answer yes, Opera will take you right back to where you were and restore those 10 tabs you were using before it crashed.
Regarding the BitTorrent feature on Opera ver 9,
You don't need a separate BitTorrent application to download large files. Simply click a torrent link and start the download.

Link please and which version of Opera runs voice?t8rs said:I just installed the voice "extension" for Opera. In a word, wicked!
Still a newbie with this opera thing (newbie=lazy) how do i go about installing this voice extension? Are there SP voice packs?t8rs said:I just installed the voice "extension" for Opera. In a word, wicked!
It will read what you highlight with voice inflections, provided punctuation is present. I spend a lot of time in front of a monitor so it will be nice to have TERB posts read to me while resting my eyes. Also, I won't have to be annoyed by those lengthy posts that are hard to read from lack of paragraphs. (Although I suppose it won't do much about bad spellers. lol)
Apparently, you can use voice commands to browse as well, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I just had it read some reviews to me. Absolutely brilliant!WoodPeckr said:Can just imagine having some of these reviews read to you........
