I installed the extension on both v 8.xx and 9 (I have different versions on different computers). You'll know if your version has that capability by highlighting some text and right-clicking on it; you'll see an option that says "Speak". Click on that and it will automatically initiate the download. It will also open a new page with instructions on how to configure and use it. (Note that you can choose a male or female sounding voice.)

After it's installed, you can just press "v" on your keyboard after you've highlighted the text. (God, I love those keyboard shortcuts!)
Sweet! Now if I could only bring in more natural sounding voices like the ones from DragonNS this would be amazing! Im sure there are other voices out there for Opera....

Pretty neat extension. Unfortunately it only works under Windows 2000 and Windows Xp for now.

Also, it is unfortunate that there are no similar Firefox extensions (the only extension I found is called FoxyVoice and is not compatible with FF 1.5) :(

Yes I do :), (careful it is SE). Seriously, I use Linux in 98-99% of the time. I keep windows, to be able to run some programs that do not run on Linux platforms. I have Win Xp too that I use once every 3 months or so

So you can still run Opera in Linux, right? Just not the voice extensions?
