Then why was she selling them off as ostrich meat just last year? Do you sell your pets to restaurants as food?
Farmers claim to get attached to the cows, pigs that they sell off as well. Weird I know, at least this didn't go over your head.

Maybe I can't argue that point, but seeing her in tears the way she was, seemed the same to me like someone was losing their child, cat or dog.
She got $50,000 from a billionaire in the U.S. for her legal bills and had support from some big names in Trump's cabinet, RFKJr. and Dr. Oz if I'm not mistaken.
How is it different then a cat or dog if you have had these bird for years?

$100K raised thru crowd funding.

Also there was a post stating that the settlement of the cull had they allowed it initially was to amount to a good chunk of cash settlement. Some creditors took claim to some of this to cover $$$ owed via the courts. The farm didn't go for it. Wonder what their end game was? Raise more $$$ thru donations/crowd funding hoping it would exceed $400K? Even if they saved the birds, it seems they have no funds to actually take care of them. How do they pay creditors? Also there is a claim for part of the property is not theirs anymore but the actual owners are not allowed access.

Isn’t RFK Jr the same guy who dumped a dead bear in Central Park and who chain sawed a dead whale in half after finding it on the beach and then strapped it to the roof of the family van and took it home? That JFK Jr?

smh…Who tf cares about killing ostriches FFS? I saw people on social media hysterically crying, calling the people culling the ostriches fascists, etc. These people are completely unhinged.

The ones causing the fuss are the same anti-science dingbats who were protesting wearing masks and jabs.

I honestly have no idea. They're all hypocrites to me.
People are passionate about animals, no different than people being passionate about whatever their beliefs. I find people that are extremely religious unhinged.

If we look at the current govt’s response to perceived “threats” from viruses in the past, its pretty obvious the general Cdn tendency is to go severely overboard with authoritarian enforcement.

Not mad at all.
This your mask?

Ostriches are cool, I wouldn't mind having the experience of cuddling one why not?

Aw, still upset. It's okay. It's morning, things will be better for you today and remember it's cold and flu season, get your flu shot. Look at what happened to the poor ostriches for not keeping up with their shots. Yes, I've got mine already. ;)

Gets stranger and stranger…..

Yup, like I mentioned in an earlier post, 99% of the supporters have been the anti-science twat brigade who just love getting behind a good grift.

Maybe she was just crying about the lost revenue over her bird's lifetime.
I know CFIA gave her 3K per bird that they culled, but maybe she stood to make more off of their lifetime value if they were kept alive and therefore wanted more.

I consider myself right wing but this is the dangers of lunatic lefties and righties. Lefties hate everything trump and righties hate everything liberal. From what I read these animals are exotic animals and were cramped in together which helps the spread and weren't even meant to withstand canadian weather.

Righties are having a leftie type meltdown because the decision was made by liberals, instead of looking at facts. This flu can lie dormant for years and turn into a more dangerous strain eventually from what I read.

You never had a cat or dog in your life, because you could tell those tears weren't for money. They were for the loss of her Ostriches, her "fur babies".
If you had ever experienced the loss of a dog or cat, you could understand and relate to her reaction better, instead of "I know CFIA gave her $3k per bird that they killed", that part wouldn't even remotely come into your mind.

I cried like a baby when a couple of my friend's had to put their dogs down, we were a close group that met at a leash free park. We'd meet at the same time every weekend and some evenings in the week so our dogs could play with each other.
Sounds like having kids doesn't it? It's the exact same attachment.

Oh, I get it.
I’ve got two dogs and two cats myself, but we’re talking about 300 head of livestock she was raising to sell for meat.
I seriously doubt she feels the same kind of parental attachment we do toward our pets.
That’s why I said it’s probably more about “they’re taking my livelihood” mixed with the natural sadness anyone would feel seeing that many animals killed. Could be wrong, but that’s how it looks.
And let’s be real, just last year, 100s of millions of chickens were culled over the H5N1 outbreak. Not hundreds, hundreds of millions, including plenty of healthy birds.
You also know that live male chicks, considered useless in the egg industry, are literally killed right after hatching, either gassed or tossed into a macerator and ground up alive.
Some of that ends up rendered into protein meal that goes into animal feed, even pet food.
The livestock industry is just f***ing cruel when you really think about it.
