is there a way to copy or move inbox messages so they can be imported into the inbox of another computer other than re sending each message individually? CAn the hard drive be slaved to the other machine and the messages be moved into the OE inbox?

I've never used it, but there are import/export options in OE. You select what folder you want to export.
I know it can be done, but I can't remember exactly how I did it. I think I may have highlighted and then dragged into a folder (IIRC, I had to shrink the window so I could drag them on the desktop).Gentle Ben said:

Not in Outlook express
This works with Microsoft Outlook, not Express - Express can only be exported to either exchange of Outlook.. You need to move the \\applications\identies\microsoft\outook express\ files manually..sizziler said:

So if I search & find the folders (7 in this case for inbox), then what? I assume Select All >Copy and copy it either to a cd or even drag it onto the new hard drive, but where would I move the files to on the new HD?

WHat I want to do is install the OS onto a larger hard drive(I don't want to clone it as the registery screwed up and I cant be bothered going through the 399 steps to patch it) I want to save most of my files but outlook express is the one I'm having trouble with.shawnbg said:

It sounds like you have a few Inbox's, but probably only use one of them. To find out the exact location of the files that you need that contain your messages, open up Outlook Express and click the Tools menu at the top and then click Options and then the Maintenance tab. Now click the Store Folder button and this will tell you the path to the folder where your inbox and sent items files are located. Copy the files in this folder to a CD and make sure Outlook is closed when you're copying them.
On your new computer, just do the exact same thing. Open up Outlook Express and check the path again like above to find out where these files are located on your new computer. Now just copy the files that you burned to CD to this folder on your new computer. I've had to do this a few times before.

Thanks shawnbg, worked like a charm,,,, after 3 attempts to copy the backup CD to the new folder and no luck, I thought I might have a bad disc or burn, re burned the file and everything worked perfect!
