Was up late both Friday and Saturday night and was bombarded with the P90X infomercial.

Did a search on TERB, but got no results.

Wondering if anyone has any comments/experience with the P90X exercise program?

Did some reading on the net and you have to stick with a pretty strict diet to get the TV results, but the system works well until your body gets used to working with your body weight. Once that happens, you apparently need to hit the gym if you want to get stronger.

Anyone have anything else to add???

It is a decent workout, but you will need to follow up with a good diet plan which they provide. The beginner would find the exercises difficult although throughout you are told you can go at your own pace.

The abs and core are hit hard and you definitely feel the pump if you follow through.

You will need a solid pull bar, dumbbells, and a mat. 12 disks in all and you do one everyday. Everyday is different and the theory behind it is that you shock the body everyday with different muscle ripping routines.

I have only see the commercials. Over and over again.

It seems like it is a well-rounded, common sense, and fairly difficult programme.

Unlike the other exer-crap that gets advertised, I am not surprised that this would work.

I've used it...it totally works. But it isn't for beginners. The more out of shape you are, the more likely you are to fail. This is pretty hardcore. Both the exercise and the diet regimen.

MPAxMPA,

Thanks for the suggestion. I searched the other boards and went to beachbody.com (too many good testimonials given they are the company behind the P90X program). I also checked other sites and they all said that the package was overpriced and I could set up my own program, but that really didn't tell me if the P90X program worked.

Given the weigh loss thread a while ago, I thought TERB might have some input.

Anyway, I put in on TERB cause I knew I would get a better cross section of people who might have had experience with the product and given me more "honest" feedback.

Just so you know why I put it here.

Cheers

I am thinking of getting it from the looks of it its the same work out my personal trainer had me on and i did see results with that, but I rather invest more time in a home gym since i am home all the time

Lost in a daydream of beautiful women.
Have it...have done it...REALLY tough, regardless of your fitness level.

Just check the torrents for it, it's out there. Try it out and if you like it, buy it and support it.

The meal plan is pretty good too, but difficult to follow.

Why does a female post on a 99% male escort/mpa review board who does not advertise?

Why does it bother you? Do you prefer a male-only board?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

i'm currently on it...
after 2 (grueling) weeks of the program i have lost over an inch off my waist... feel much better than i did before, and have started to see more definition across my entire body...
it's not for the faint of heart, but so far, the effort has been worth it (for me)...

Experienced Trainer here...Strength/Conditioning Specialist, Distance Runner and Boxing Coach. My 2 cents on P90x.

PROS

Lots of Variety (muscle confusion)
Fundamentally sound. Strength, Cardio and Flexibility all adressed
Dosen't require alot of equipment
Definitely will achieve short term benefits

CONS

Intense...for intermediates only
Too short a goal...what happens after 3 months? Do you repeat the program?
Exercises too tough...How many can do chin/pullups for reps?
Combining an intense workout and dieting at the same time is counter productive.

CONCLUSION

Good for reaching a short term goal...but a less intense, sensible strength/cardio/flexibility program will help reach your goals and more importantly, maintain them. Probably the best exercise infomercial Ive seen. Better than hiphop abs, ab rockers..etc

"Dieting" is in reference to the lean regimen on the program. High in protein and carbs and low in fat. It really isn't a diet.

As for the 3 month thing...the program does state it can be used in the long-term and can be made more/less intensive to prolong the program or increase the difficulty.

But you're right...this isn't for starters. Definitely not. It's pretty brutal.

FWIW, I've known some guys who moved on to Crossfit after P90X.

But yeah...not for beginners (esp Crossfit!)
