SHEILA GOSTICK
Femme fatale no Alan Eagleson
Artists are often misunderstood, but rarely are they jailed for pursuing their calling. Last week, a woman who parlayed her dazzling gift for storytelling into a career as a confidence artist was sentenced to two years in prison.
The "victims" of Tracy Lyn Sargent, or Trini Bronfman, were "young professional men." The main complainant met Tracy when he innocently hired her to serve him sexually.
The "31-year-old executive" gave his "life savings" of $140,000 to the irresistibly charming woman over the course of a two-year "relationship."
This works out to less than $200 a day -- a bargain rate for the company of any professional escort.
The men Tracy met "felt cheated." I don't see why. By all accounts, she was constantly working to keep them entertained. They must have enjoyed the glamour of associating with a woman who claimed to be the illegitimate daughter of Hillary Weston and Edgar Bronfman.
Had Diana lived, Tracy/Trini would have been her horse trainer. She said she was employed by Conrad Black. She played on the vanity of these men and their own desire for social status.
Another of Tracy's "victims" trusted her enough to have her babysit his son while he took a trip. There is no complaint about her babysitting -- just the business of some phone and credit card bills. Perhaps she felt that, as his mistress, she was entitled.
The judge referred to Tracy Lyn's performance as "horrendous. There is not only the mental effect that your acts have had on your victims but also the physical," he goes on.
What does he mean by that? She did not beat these men. She only changed the shape of their wallets.
The judge sentenced this woman to two years in prison. Two years less a day would have meant serving her time in a detention centre. Con artist Tracy Lyn Sargent will go to P4W in Kingston.
Alan Eagleson defrauded hockey players of millions, and he didn't have to sleep with any of them. He got 18 months.

I found this article on the net somewheres I think it's from an old now magazine. Anyway - this whole thing about Vandercroft, I think it's more dispicable that some of you are resolving to name calling and all. Maybe it's her 'victims' cough cough CLIENTS. I am pretty sure you guys are on the board. I don't know the whole story but as I recall one of these guys initiated the whole thing by googling her name and the cops went looking for the second 'victim'. It sounds to me like these so called victims had buyers remorse or something and she endend up with a bad lawyer. She was escorting and getting paid for her time and the amount of hours she spent with these 'victims' clearly was at a bargain price. Doesn't matter what stories she told while with these guys - we have to do that you know - to pass the time - so whatever amuses you is game. I don't even understand why she was charged. Maybe she was under the impression that escorting is illegal or because she provided incalls at her condo. So perhaps it was an alternative to being charged with one or the other and the other carried a lesser sentence? Not sure about that. But it does say that these so called 'victims' met her as an escort so why was she charged when all she was doing is servicing them for a price? Perhaps you two could log on and explain. Lots of people tell lies when in relationships, most don't get charged with fraud. So what is it about this case, is it because of her past?
I don't care whether she has a pimp - we are all being pimped - by our lifestyle. Nobody forced these guys to give her money, they paid her.
