Well, I am way, way too early for a hotel appointment to check in.

Any suggestions to kill some time while I wait?

And how early do you check in?

I’m habitually early for appointments of any kind, and I always have something to read in the car. Research to review or an article.

I check in with the agency or text the girl 5 minutes early. No more, no less.

I'm too old school.
I have small book of sudoko puzzles (from Dollarama) that is tucked beside the drivers seat and a few pencils in the center console.
Easy way to kill time in any situation when you are waiting in the car, and it is bright enough to see to read the pages.

I usually also have a novel or two sitting behind the seat.
Which I have on the go from reading in the car on workdays at lunchtime.

Yeah I usually carry a book in my car in that little alcove in the door just in case I'm kept up somewhere.

I wouldn't look or watch porn on a phone in a parking lot.

Someone may walk by an see your screen and call the cops. Now you can park against a fence or wall which there is no reason for someone to sneak up from behind.

There is a funny movie that had this scene. Hall Pass.

I completely understand this situation. I have arrived way too early for many appointments before, but it isn't fair to tell her put her under pressure and tell her that you've arrived 20+ minutes before the scheduled appointment.
That anticipation period leading up to the time that you check in is both exhilarating and excruciating.
And I agree that you shouldn't check in any earlier than 5-10min before. If I text 10 minutes early, I usually say something like "I've arrived. I know I'm early. Take your time."

If the hotel is in a location that has a lot of other stuff (stores, shops, etc.), then I'd probably kill time by walking around outside of the hotel to pass the time.
If the hotel is in one of those remote locations that there's nothing else around, I might pass time on my phone in the hotel lobby, as long as there's enough traffic that you won't be questioned.
Failing the above, I'd drive around and find another place to pass the time.

Go for a walk and find a nice local coffee spot?
I always tell my clients to check in with the booker 5-10 mins before the appointment 😊
