Got a parking ticket last night, but the last 2 digits of the plate number on the ticket don't match my plate. I don't mind paying the $30 fine, but is there a way to fight this ticket on the basis of the erroneous plate number?

Are you serious.

Just don't pay it.

You got a lucky break.

How exactly do you think they are going to trace that ticket to your car?

Mind you, if you deserved the ticket, you should out of conscious pay it since you made the infraction.

ignore the ticket if the plate number is not yours consider it a lucky break. take advantage of this one but make sure the plate number on the ticket does not match your plate number.

Don't pay it. They can't trace it to you if the plate number is incorrect. You may want to consider making a donation to a worthy charitable cause (over and above what you normally give of course) if you were in fact illegally parked.

Dude seriously, you would be an *&^!@# moron if you paid the ticket. Dont do it man, get your head out of the donkeys back side. You dont need to fight it, you take it in and say this is not my plate number. Someone obviously took it off their car and put it on my car. Have a nice day sir, you say that to the judge.

You dont say oh sir i dont mind paying it but the numbers are wrong!!! I cant even believe you would contemplate such a thing.

Do not pay under any circumstances. Who's to say if you deserved the ticket or not. Are you a judge? They did not identify you correctly so the ticket will not be on your record.

Oh my gosh you guys. Think of the karma!
At the very least I like the charity donation idea.
'Lucky breaks' like this make me nervous. I always think of them as a test.

I'm a superstitious nutbar I guess.

If Karma does exist then a pantload is coming back on the LE. Most of what they do is no better than harrassment.

You are not required to pay, but if it'll make you feel better, take it in and have it cancelled officially. Then give the money to charity. That'll make you feel great.

not to mention, and it seems that no one is thinking of this, but it would save the poor soul that owns the plate lots of grief!

Yeah and they forgot the extra 0 on the fine. You should go and pay them $300.

Didn't expect this much response. No I'm not dumb enough to walk into court and tell the judge "yeah I'll pay even though the plate is wrong". No I was just concerned about how much hassle I'd run into by ignoring the ticket on the chance that can trace the ticket back to me. One of the numbers on the ticket looks like a 7 where my plate has a 4, but looking at it you could argue that it is a 4. Bah I had my plates clearly displayed, why can't these cops write more clearly, I'm leaving it.

I'd have to agree with the majority DON'T PAY IT!

But if your nervous about the outcome, call and ask someone if it is still valid. But don't give them too much details like ur real plate #, case they decide to make changes or something and send you a proper bill
