PayPal question??

I purchased an item off of eBay and the seller contacted me saying payment was pending. In the past the money went through quickly, but now it is taking a week for the sellers to get their money. I checked with my bank and the money was taken out within 24 hours. However, on my PayPal account it says 'uncleared' and clearing date will be January 8th.

Is this normal? Is there a better service to consider?

I clicked on PayPal's 'help' and 'contact us' but there was no number to call and it just wasn't useful right off the bat - maybe not at all.

You must have did like an E check right not through a CC on PP. If so then that the norm especially this time of yr with all the heavy traffic from Holidays PP has had. Pay Pal is E bay you do know that right they are merged or affiliated or some shit like that./ :)

Yeah, that's what it was. I get so frustrated with this stuff, so I took a quick break and went back to find their contact number. The credit card I had on file I had closed out way back whenever. I'll have to add a new one.

Thanks.

Paypal is no pal of mine any longer. They raised their fees too high. They can screw up your credit report. I might use PP to buy a item but when I sell its money order only. I might get a few less bids but screw PP

I am not a fan with paypal. www.paypalsucks.com they messed up my checking account a while back where they kept taking money out of it without even me purchasing anything.

it was a giant hassle to get my bank to clear up the issue.

I have used Paypal daily for over 7 years and it works great. I read and follow their guide lines and everything seems to work perfectly fine for me. I have done well over 10,000 transactions with them and am very happy with them. Sure ...it would be nice if their fees were less, but I do not know another system on the net that works as well for both sellers and buyers.
Paypal gives each person in the transaction some security and recourse if things get messed up.

Google Checkout has yet to embrace Canada. But you can buy from them. Much better. Much better. Just do it under Ebay's nose. Ebay sucks and are breaking anti-competive laws keeping Google Checkout out. I think it has something to do with Meg Whitman humping Mitt Romney when one of his wives looks the other way.

u do know ebay owns paypal?
yup think I mentioned that, I was not 100% sure but I am now. That is why they get those fees.

Now of course depending on site there are options. Security well pay pal has great rep. As far as being pro Canada they REALLY SUCK ASS. They offer a 1 800 number for USA residents only. Now recourse good luck best be reading that fine print in both eBAY and Pay pal again.

Ebay bought Paypal in the summer of 2002 for 1.5 billion. Nice work if you can get it. I think Paypal and Ebay work well together ...you can get funds in seconds. Someone buys some item from you off of Ebay and if they pay right away, in minutes the money is in your account. That is just fantastic ...try to do that 10 years ago. The system makes money move faster and that is better for everyone.
Concerning money orders ...I would never send one. Seller gets your money and they have all the power / control ...send the item or don't ...what as you going to do ...leave negative feedback. Seller says ...never got the money order ...lost in the mail or some else cashed it. You are out your dough ...that's it. I would rather pay 3 or 4% in expenses than lose 100% of my money ...seems like good insurance to me.
Would another player in the market be good??? Of course ...competition is good in a capitalist market. Let's see if someone steps up to the plate ...big, big money must be involved to do it ...no small player like two dudes out of their garage. Those days are gone ...at least in the internet banking business.
