So many races, so many chances for medals. Should other disciplines follow suit?
When even the third place finisher smashes the previous record you have to laugh.
I know its so funny. Every time I switch to Olympic coverage on swimming I hear, "A new world record!". There was even one event (I forget which one, theres so many events in swimming), where one guy smashed the world record in the prelims, and then the guy who held the previous WR broke the new record in the next heat!
I guess its exciting, but if youre a swimming fan does it really become so exciting when WRs are not only broken but smashed so consistently?
I dont think Ive seen a sport so influenced by technology, that can be the best explanation outside of the obvious one.
