So American Idol has been going on for the second week and Kelly Pickler is smo-ho-ho-hoking hot. Poor little thing living with Grandpa who demands that she make him sandwiches before she has to go to her little roller-waitress gig.

Anyway I think she's got the charisma and looks and voice even to go far.

And to add to that Paris Bennett doing that Billy Holidae song is an absolute winner as well. Man that little bundle of chocolate can sing her ass off

Wow, AI threads already! There have been a couple of stories already about how the judges are snarkier this year, especially when it comes to heavy or "flamboyant" performers. Overweight and Gay/Lesbian organizations are already up in arms. Is it me, or does it seem that there are more contestants of "questionable gender identity" this year?

The audition phase can be amusing, because of the bad singers, and it is fun to see if you can pick out the "diamonds in the rough" at these early stages. I remember Clay Aiken's first audition--I thought the guy looked like a total dork, but he could sing. Same thing with Federov last year. I remember Fantasia's audition too, and thinking this girl could do well. I don't remember seeing Carrie Underwood at all during the first stages, I only saw her once she was a finalist.

Anyway, I also liked Kelly Pickler and Paris Bennett from last night's show. They will both be finalists.

It seems that when there is a little vignette about one of the contestants, that means they will pass their audition. I thought it was odd that they presented a background story about Ms. Pickler, but that obviously meant she was going to pass and the producers want you to know about her. And what a story--abandoned by mom and living with grandpa, she still loves her jailbird dad. If this isn't Movie of the Week material, I don't know what is. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to vote for this girl.

I wonder though... isn't all this audition stuff past tense? I mean, in real time, these auditions happened months ago, and if I am not mistaken, they've already done the Hollywood thing, so haven't the 24 or so finalists already been chosen? So, as the producers are editing these early auditions, they already know who will be on the show, right? So that's another reason why I think Ms. Pickler will be a finalist.

Katherine McPhee is absolutely scrumptuous! I repeat scrumptuous!

And she can belt it on as well! If she doesn't fuck up she'll be top 5 easy. However she has that crazed mother. So from now on if we could refer to Katherine as TOwtEM or the one with the evil mother. Anyway she made you imagine music behind her beautiful voice and emotion. Man am I fucked.

TOwtEM is the bomb. And when she cried it was sooooo sweet.

Pickler and TOwtEM are going to make this contest a babefest

When you see the ending when they cut all the contestants together singing the same song and we don't see this in the audition I wonder if this is done after and they tell them to sing a cretain song so they can use it for good t.v...All set up I think!

Man! I am still watching the performance of Katherine McPhee. She's got some Janis Joplin like qualities to her voice.

Already fucked up TOwtEM's name up. Sorry guys and gals won't let it happen again.

After watching the tape for the 23rd time I have more observations of last nights show which imo was very interesting.

Firstly as an astute colleague of mine noted last night Randy and Paula should be fired. End of story. Its all about Simon. Ex. When the portly black fellow second in the beginning warbled his way through a couple of songs (think his name was Vasquez) Simon told him he could not sing and he was abhorrent, the fellow started walking out, as should be expected. Randy was being a touch more compassionate and Simon called to Vasquez and said hold on a sec., And then said Randy Yes or No? Brilliant

And that last Latino fella with the saint charm. He was the most insane performer last night. Although his head was bobbing pretty good.

And that asian gal was nice looking! I think Pool would agree

My Final 6 guestimate based on this weeks performances

From the women's night here's my top three,

Catherine McPhee of course...best voice in the competition and sweet looking to boot

Second will be either one of the younger black girls whose names escape me. The 17 year old that did Midnight Train to Georgia and the 16 year old who did some song. I think its going to be the 17 year old and she is much better

Lastly Kelly Pickler will be one of the last three girls left in the comp. She may not be the most talented but she is fucking hot.

Catherine blows them all away so that point is moot

Of the men...

Bald headed rocker dude who sang Bon Jovi Dead or Alive

Hick looking rocker type from Arkansas with bad teeth who did Stevie Wonder. Man that kid did a great job

Lastly will be the grey haired guy who did Elton John's Levon. As the judges said he is very interesting.

PS Ace is a bit of a cocksucker

Hell, yeah! I had my eye on her since the auditions. At this point of the competition, I'm watching the show for the eye candy as much as the singing. So I'm really disappointed that my favourite candy got the fewest number of votes.

Well, it looks like your love will be short lived, because she is gone. But, for what it's worth, I thought she was hot too.

I also thought Stevie Scott, who got cut tonight, was also hot. She was the opera singer who did that weird song. Very cute girl, and tall. Lots of tall girls this year.

The two black singers you are thinking of are Paris Bennett and Lisa Tucker, respectively. I thought both of them were very good last night and both should be finalists. Catherine McPhee is a shoo in. Kelly Pickler might make the final 12, but I predict she will run out of gas fairly quickly. The other tall girl, Ayla Brown, surprised me the other night. She sang that Christina song very well, and you have to love those long legs of hers. I thought the other blonde girl, Heather Cox, sucked. The heavy black woman might make the final 12, but she won't last long. America doesn't want a fat chick for its American Idol. A fat dude is okay, but not a fat chick. Sorry, I don't make up the rules.

I don't care too much about the guys, but I think Ace has got to be the favorite.

I think she was trying to show her artistic side, which is the kiss of death. Idol voters have never gone for "artists". (True of Canadian Idol as well.)

I actually thought she sang the song well, even though it was dreary. But it was a terrible song choice, as I definitely thought she had the voice and looks to advance at least a bit further in the competition.

Who should win - Paris or the other black girl.

Who will win - Probably Pickler because AI doesn't get a lot of attention from the blacks in America.
