It seems that when there is a little vignette about one of the contestants, that means they will pass their audition. I thought it was odd that they presented a background story about Ms. Pickler, but that obviously meant she was going to pass and the producers want you to know about her. And what a story--abandoned by mom and living with grandpa, she still loves her jailbird dad. If this isn't Movie of the Week material, I don't know what is. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to vote for this girl.
I wonder though... isn't all this audition stuff past tense? I mean, in real time, these auditions happened months ago, and if I am not mistaken, they've already done the Hollywood thing, so haven't the 24 or so finalists already been chosen? So, as the producers are editing these early auditions, they already know who will be on the show, right? So that's another reason why I think Ms. Pickler will be a finalist.
