After the Berlin Wall fell, developers wanted to ring the city of Berlin with golf courses. That would have caused even worse environmental devastation than the old DDR factory farms. Berliners would have had no choice but to rely on expensive bottled water, the cost of treating tap water would have been extreme. Luckily there was no Homer Ford among the city planners.

Vincent Price said humans are stumbling demented child kings. Sometimes we get lucky, woodpeckers are still relatively plentiful. Without them we would lose 80% of our deciduous forests. Although wildfires are only going to get worse.

They can be a nuisance but so valuable.

Although the project is expensive it will pay for itself over time. The City will have far less dredging costs to worry about. Since the Don was diverted to an un-natural flow into Lake Ontario. It caused the low Don to continuously silt up over time, causing water saturation, flooding and sinkholes along the way. With the river taken back to a natural flow into Lake Ontario, dredging costs will be minimal. They've even added a natural spillway for heavy storm days...that ducks will love.

Being a devout carnivore, I eat all forms of animal protein. I cannot eat a duck, they are too goofy and funny to put in my stomach. And they eat lots of insect water pests.
