Sorry but I am on team shredder when it comes to them mutant fucks. Roaming around at night with weapons, eating pizza, I don't trust them.

The Harvey's near me has no paper recycling bin in the restaurant. So using paper straws is pointless.

I would be genuinly surprised if any of the retail places with paper recycling bins actually recycle those items as one would hope. I suspect most of these customer seperated materials still go into general waste stream. Either from being contaminated by materials other than the what should be in there, or by lack of retail establishment ability to sort waste into recycle streams after they empty the store front bins...

Ever see Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood drink from a straw, didn't think so.

I only keep three plastic water bottles in the house to reuse, Brita everything. I kept the large rayon bag I got from Sleep Country. Rayon is made from bamboo fibers, super strong. Not only does it hold all my groceries, I can do curls on my way back to the car.

Nik Dmitri doesn't drink from a straw neither.

At the metro and shopper's drug mart , the plastic bags are on the self check out racks. The cashiers don't care ,or pay attention to it. Lol just plastic bags that is 5 cents, before it was free lol, they don't give crap. It just No Frills has the cashier holding the bags at the self check out , they do have rocks for them at the self check out,

How difficult is it to to take reusable bags and one of those box types with you once a week? I don't even bother with plastic on most veg and fruit either. Going back to reusable there now that the pandemic is over.

And they have nifty collapse ones that fit easily in a car compartment. Just buy a few and leave them there and you are set.

I also bought a nice set of wood utensils in a leather case for takeout. Take em in my backpackband on vacation. Easy peasy.

Years ago I forgot when, shoppers, metro never charged for plastic bags, other stores did not all. It was just no frills who charged them back then. Those plastic bags are cheap, you think the stores care about it , metro, shoppers, I check no bags off , only no frills I see them holding them like idoits lol. No frills used to have boxes by the front, they want you to buy plastic bags that ripped easily. At heathy planet they charged nothing for plastic bags, I went they numerous times before,

I never said stores cared. I just said you confirmed you are a thief.

At the Independent [YIG] they often ask if I need a bag after they rang me up. I am running low on bags to use for the kitchen garbage so I always take it if it is offered.
I don't however steal it, even though I am an adult, I am part of the system and don't throw things on the ground.

Each store sets their own policy regarding the bags. But somebody who's a thief will try to justify their behaviour by saying they're "supposed to" be free, when in fact they're supposed to be what the store wants them to be.
