So i couldnt sleep last nite and stayed up to watch eyes wide shut

But the hooker inside that warned tom cruise to leave , how did she know he didnt belong there did i miss something

And when Kidman found the mask and he came into the room when the fuck did he break down and spill the beans ????

Eyes wide Shut was Kubricks attempt at risqué 20 years behind society. Tom Cruise was a fan, which is the only reason the film got the fanfare it did. Nicole Kidman agreed to do it because the the Sith Lord Grand Poo Bah of the Church of scientology would have turned her into a salamander if she refused.........it was a vanity project and a textbook example of Nepotism and Hollywood.Oh, and it was a terrible...that also...

He came in a cab, which was a giveaway. She may have not known this but I had no problem with it as I assumed she intuitively knew. Something about him was not right and she felt it. Her warning set the tension of the scene. Intuition is our subconscious at work. Our subconscious controls 90 per cent of our behavior.

Agreed. I love The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and Dr. Strangelove but could not get into Eyes Wide Shut.

It was known to be a secret society. Tom had a taxi. Big give away. Everyone knew he wasn't supposed to be there.
Great film. I would go to one if I was allowed. All that great pussy.Orgies everywhere.
Acting was very good. Kidman look like a porno star in one scene and the sound mix in the movie is haunting.

I think it is a great movie (and the Blu-ray release is very good).

I am not a cruise fan, but love Kidman and think their odd relationship actually works here.
It is a movie you have to watch in a darkened room on a big screen without a lot of distraction in order to work well.
I find the thriller and paranoia/relationship aspects are very insidious and make the movie as a whole very unsettling (which I like).

That is somewhat debatable, as he was not allowed to make any movies. I believe that some of his "unmade" movies might have been exceptional.

I agree with The Surly Dane.

For most other directors Family Plot would be an achievement but for Hitchcock it was substandard. he should have retired after Frenzy, IMHO the best of his later films. Similar theme to Psycho but presented as a black comedy instead. With a stellar British cast to execute it. It became the inspiration for American Psycho.
