Would it really matter who has more nukes? I'm sure that a couple of them is enough to destroy the entire world. What's the point of having 12000 nukes? To see who can destroy the world faster?

To give them the impression that no matter what you do you will lose. And it would take more than a couple of nukes to destroy the planet's eco-system.

It might have more do with the damage that would be done to neighbors than being scared of three nukes. Clearly the North Koreans pose no threat to Americans directly. They do however poses a significant threat to US allies in the region and any action by the US, from sanctions to war, might cause the North to lash out at the South or Japan and as such they proceed cautiously - as they should.

Only a simplistic mind would conclude that 3 nukes scare the US militarily or economically to inaction.

Yeah, but Dubya's cabal is interested in "pre-emptive" war.
The nukes are keepin' Dubya's hawks at bay.
