Really? That would be a gift for the republicans.

FiveThirtyEight founder and prominent pollster Nate Silver has a bold take: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is most likely the next Democratic presidential candidate.

In a video posted to his "Silver Bulletin" website on Wednesday, Silver and political podcaster Galen Druke came up with draft picks for the Democratic Party’s next presidential nominee and settled on AOC being the strongest contender.

"My first pick of the first-round draft is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez," Druke said.

"F--- you! That was going to be my f---ing first pick!," Silver responded, adding, "We both are on the AOC bus." Earlier, he said his first pick likely had at best a "20% chance" to be the nominee, indicating it was far from a confident prediction.

Druke went on to argue why the progressive lawmaker was his top choice, stating there are "a lot of points in her favor at this very moment," pointing in part to having the highest net favorability of any Democrats asked about in a recent Yale survey.

"So that means that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has broad appeal across the Democratic Party and there’s a lot of people who could potentially get on board with her. But I think equally important is the fact that she has very fervent support," he said.

Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., have drawn large crowds and plenty of press attention during their "Fight Oligarchy" tour in recent weeks.

Druke said the "Squad" member would do well grabbing attention in what he expects to be a crowded primary.

Silver isn't exactly dripping with credibility.
'' Prominent elections analyst and statistician Nate Silver said Wednesday that former President Trump is now electorally favored to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris in November by the widest margin in months. ''

Hit that one right on didn't he?

If she gets nominated the dems will lose. Again.
Those swing states in the old rust belt are, as one olde tyme Democrat once said "John Wayne states" and in both instances most went for Trump VS a woman (Hilary or Kamala). They are drawn to those credibly strong types.

Dems need a straight white male at head of ticket. It pains me to say that. I know Obama won those states but since then Trump activated a number of folks who historically never voted and now are involved.

No one was "activated" in some diabolical scheme.
Some of the Obama voters switched for Trump after the Democratic party seemed to be less interested in blue collar economic policies.

Barack Obama would have won if he was on the ticket in 2024. It just takes a deft and relatable candidate.

the Dems will eat this up...watch the MSM and their base regurgitate a new narrative... AOC is the best thing since sliced bread.... good luck convincing the indies....If Kamala can't beat Donald...AOC will do even worse...

No he doesn't but the Democrats has a leadership crisis... Schumer isn't popular, Pelosi is done... Bernie isn't up to task... it's either Kamala or AOC...what I don't understand is why not prop up Shapiro...i'd consider Josh a contender...why the democrats try to push out center left and go with the progressive left is beyond me.

By activated i meant they became involved in politics, not in any "diabolical scheme" lol. That was your interpretation. And they were. This is why Trump went to all those Podcasters that appeal to the lost young blokes (and I mean that charitably, their audience had heaps of guy's feeling lost in modern society).
I think you're right though with what you said about Obama or another candidate who might have won.
As I said before Kamala was not my first choice. I agreed with James Carville who wrote about a tournament style series of debates in 4 locations in the usa with the winners debating at the convention. But alas...

Trump's margin was about the same as Biden's in the swing states at least, although Trump had more popular votes than Harris (Bidens popular vote edge was larger for sure).
