I been getting lots of prank calls for the last two weeks. The calls occurs every hour or sometimes every 3 hours. The prank call numbers are 2000, 1011, 41, 2011, etc.
I have to unplug my phone line everytime I go to bed. This is getting annoying. Has anyone experience this? What are the steps to prevent prank calling.
My phone line is not with Bell, its VOIP.

Prank calls or telemarketers? Not that there's much difference in what you can do: which is not much. If it gets too insane you could perhaps change your number.

My fave prank call and I was on the receiving end.

Caller: Hello, is this Mr Peach?

ME: No one by that name at this number.

Caller: Sorry, I called the wrong fruit!

I'm already registered on the national do not call list. It doesn't help.
The calls are prank calls. There ' s about a 1 minute silence before
They hang up. I have call display, when I see their number,
I don't even pick up. I'll give it another week, if it doesn't stop,
I'm might just have my number. Thanks for all your suggestion.

I always answer the phone by hissing "Fuck Off". Not many people call me nowadays. I'm so lonely...:)

They always use the same number? Must be a spoofed number. Still, I assume that you looked up the number that was calling you and came up empty. Just in case they are dumb enough to use their actual number.

If it is really driving you nuts, you can shell out for a call privacy package and pre-screen calls from specific numbers so that your phone won't ring.

Had a similar situation about 3-4 years ago. I'd get random calls and texts from very weird numbers. The cutest one was when they pretended to be my grandmother less than a week after she passed away. Mine would happen for a good week or two and then they would stop for a few months. They also sent spoof texts to. I changed my number three times in less than a year and they always managed to find it somehow. I figured they either worked for Bell, who I was with, or knew someone they did. I switched over the Rogers and the calls ended.

They are probably using a spoofed number and since it's your home phone I doubt there is a convenient way to block their number. I'd give it another week or two to see if they give up. If they don't, I'd look into changing my number.
