As far as the Military goes, They are known as defense forces. would a pacifist just let themselves be taken over by an attacking enemy? Not sure about that. I don't think its so much about not accepting LQBTQ fans. The Russia issue is real. A lot of these guys live in Russia in the offseason. Can you imagine if a player was killed or arrested because he wore a rainbow shirt. This is Russia were talking about. Putin is insane. Its a delicate balance between showing the LQBTQ community you care and value their business and the welfare of your Russian players and their families. I think the they would have the same issues if they had players from certain Muslim countries where they throw gay people off rooftops.
I think the teams should have consulted their players before proceeding with what is turning into a fiasco.

If we live in a diversified society, then we have to be prepared to accept that different people will most likely have different views on the same issue. Of course the wokies/virtue signallers/sjw/lefties will always try to force their views on everybody else.

BTW: "LGBTQ2S+ meaning is an acronym that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and two-spirit1234. The plus (+) sign denotes other sexual orientations and gender identities2. Two-spirit is a term that originated from Native American culture that describes people who have both a male and female spirit within them1."

Ummm....sounds like someone doesn't understand what pacifism is....It basically means that violence is NEVER acceptable, even in defence....To them, the taking of a life is never justified.

Also, the NHL released a statement yesterday saying that there is no threat to Russian players for wearing a pride jersey.

The bottom line here is that the NHL is trying to show that hockey (rightfully so) is for everyone. Doesn't matter the colour of your skin, the god you do (or do not worship), or your sexual orientation. It wasn't asking the Staal brothers to march in a Pride parade....it was to wear a jersey with rainbows on it for 15 minutes.

There are different definitions of pacifism. Conditional Pacifism may allow defense. I don't know which definition Reimer conscribes to.
It wasn't just the Staal brothers. It's been rejected by a lot of NHL players. Some teams have cited safety concerns for their players.

"But in late 1941, with war looming on the horizon, Selective Service Board No. 246 in Beverly Hills called on Ayres. The actor was willing to serve, but only in a noncombat role, and so he sought classification as a conscientious objector (CO). Requesting to go into the Army Medical Corps, Ayres, a certified first-aid instructor and active with the American Red Cross, wanted to help heal the wounds of war. “Don’t think I am trying to save my neck,” Ayres told the draft board. “I would like to be of service to my country in a constructive way and not a destructive way.”"
