No I wouldn't.

In that case I would take it to the vet (or a groomer recommended by the vet) for a professional flea bath and treatment.

But then again the chances of him getting fleas is highly unlikely; he is an indoor cat and gets treated with prevention. My cat and my dogs get Advantage Multi from the vet. It is a topical solution applied monthly. Even though he is an indoor cat I treat him because I have dogs that go outside.

Call that cruelty if you want.
