Problems with links

I have high-speed sympatico and use I.E.

I am having problems with links. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. In the situation when they don’t work, my cursor turns from arrow to finger, the link is underlined and the address is displayed on the bottom status bar. I click, or double click, and nothing happens.

This only happens with some links, while others work just fine.

Anyone have any suggestions? Are there any settings in I.E. that I need to check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Blade

Do you have a pop-up blocker installed? If so, when you click the link, nothing will happend if the link opens a new window. Try either uninstalling the pop-up or find out what you need to press to see the pop-up.

Actually, I do have a pop up blocker. I will see what I can do about that. I would hate to deactivate it, but I will check into my options.

Thanks,

Download all security patches for your O/S, If you have XP make sure you are running SP2 on the system. Yeah I know its a pain in the ass but the pop up stopper does work and its 99% compatiable with most hardware.. some exceptions apply.
Install a reliable antivirus software, update it, run it and clean out the viruses you have accumulated.
Download Microsoft Anti-spyware www.microsoft.com and install it, next update it, next run it.

Oh and most importantly stay away from porn sites.. they are murder on your system.

If all else fails, reformat and reload your system. Something is your registery is screwed...

There should be a way to manually override the pop-up option. For example, with Google's pop-up blocker, if you click on a link and then press the control key, the pop up will show. So there is no need to deactivate your pop up if it has this feature.

Try uninstalling your old pop up and installing the Google one. Then, whenever you click on a link, all you have to do is press ctrl.
