Just like fire bombing an anti abortion facility is not terrorism, but simply (mostly peaceful) arson.

My first post (when I started the first thread about the decision) predicted massive violence on this issue. The anti abortion idiots unleashed massive violence, including arson, bombings and murder, although this slowly died away. The backlash from the pro choice people will be just as nasty. It's a high emotion issue and the violent fringe will react violently.

This is why suddenly reversing Roe v Wade is so nuts. Anyone with half a brain knows there will be blood. The violence will only increase. The decision will drive a rift through America and delegitimize the US judicial system, which will henceforth be seen as a political tool bereft of any inherent integrity which can be gamed. And the "losers" from time to time will throw bombs and shoot people. Because that's what happens when the normal state apparatus is de legitimized.

So look forward to reading about a bunch more bombings and killings.

It does look like protesting Judges who are in the process of judging a case is illegal. (How that applies to Justices considering an appeal is a bit vague, but I would assume it falls under the same rule.)
They should just come back and protest in front of their houses once the final ruling has been handed down.

Or, since this is an important right, they should keep protesting and get arrested as acts of civil disobedience.

That firebombing still smells like insurance fraud and a chance to raise money by gofundme, honestly, but let's see what comes out of the investigation.

What great timing. America is already well into a cold civil war that just needs a few more things like this and insurrections to set it off into full blown Ireland in the 80s. Great job fuckheads. What was the need to do this now?

It's not intimidation. The judges will have an army of cops to escort them. It's just letting them know that popular feelings are high.
Did you say that you're part of the legal profession? 😆

It's not the same though. Blockading a judge who's about to rule on the guilt of a popular / unpopular local figure to ensure the mob's version of "justice" is one thing. Protesting a decision which appears to be already made and leaked, but not officially released is another.

This decision was made a year ago when Alito, Kavanaugh and Barrett met for sherries and laughed about how they lied their way to USSC seats and how much money they were being grifted by extreme right wing donors to shaft the medical profession and women by overturning Roe.

That argument can be made but I don't know if the law will agree.
I would just keep protesting non-violently and take my chances.
Like I said, it is a civil disobedience issue at that point even if you think the law does apply.

That they were going to gut Roe was decided, sure, but the details still matter.
There is a reason Roberts isn't on this opinion - he wanted to be more subtle about killing Roe.
All that means that you can still argue the protests are trying to intimidate the judges into changing their opinion, since it will shape the final draft.

I still think people should be protesting.

First Amendment / freedom of speech. The same values that you and your buddies advocate for blocking international crossing points and downtown Ottawa.
You do know that there are limits on the First, no? Seriously, dude....

Tell JC that I am sorry but I don't speak "Q" that's why he's on ignore.
Oh, you're not familiar with the limits on self expression? Have you heard of the libel and slander? How about statutory secrecy laws? Ring a bell? In this case 18 U.S. Code 1503? What's the matter, my Q accent is too confusing?

Yeah. I was trolling a little on the last post. But still....

What they're really doing is expressing outrage, rather attempting to intimidate a judge into a conviction / acquittal.

Sure, but "the law is an ass" as they say.
Last I saw, Kavanaugh's neighbors were giving out wine and cheese to protesters and press.
I don't think people are really worried about violence.

As usual the right wingers now make a mountain out of a molehill with regards to protests outside the SCOTUS Judges houses. But remember that the real violence, arson, bombings and shootings over a period of time was carried out by anti-abortion extremists:

I suppose like the way election workers, secretaries of state, school board members hounded and threatened by the new brown shirts, and most conservatives didn't feel it a big deal. Let's stop this for all.
Free speech and their right to demonstrate etc only applies to the followers of the only twice impeached POTUS in history.

The left is far more violent always have been. Roe v Wade was unconstitutional. Even your boy Biden is on record as saying as such. Abortion should be decided by the democratic process. What are you afraid of?
