Ps3 Hdmi

so I finally got my hands on a PS3, plugged it in using an HDMI cable I got from Factory Direct and I got nothing, just a blank screen, I am using an LCD projection tv and that same cable I used just a few days ago when I had an up converting dvd player, could the cable itself be the problem, and I just need to run out to Walmart and get a more expensive problem, or is it something else? any help would be appreciated

if you had previously not used hdmi and want to use it now. first you have to hardware reset the ps3 (hold power for five seconds or so, you get a beep) then have the hdmi and composite cable in the same time. then select from the menu hdmi. it should work.

not using a dvd disc.

However its been reported if you rip the pal dvd to the HD and rename the vobs to mp4 the pal dvd will work on a ntsc ps3. In other words the PS3 does some hardware check in the Blu Ray drive.

no. the games are region coded.

thanks guys your advice worked perfectly, I guess it had to reset to factory settings then go through the optical settings, so much more beautiful graphics playing with an HDMI cable, especially since it only cost me like 20 bucks hehehe

Funny i just picked HDMI and mine worked and i used it without HDMI ....
