It’s not the absolute number that’s important but the rate of increase,
Yes, that is why I asked to see the actual test result. It's not just the raw number (as you mentioned) but the trend.

Is it true that frequent orgasms cleans out the ducts (ducks) and that is a good thing?

I rather suspect that is an old wives tale! Have never seen any evidence of that and it’s 7 years since I was first diagnosed.

Prostate cancer us rarely the COD ... but the location means metastasis to bone cancer so likely. Awful death.

The following are some general guidelines to help you understand your PSA test results: 0 to 2.5 ng/mL is considered safe. 2.6 to 4 ng/mL is safe in most men but talk with your doctor about other risk factors. 4.0 to 10.0 ng/mL is suspicious and might suggest the possibility of prostate cancer.

Anyone had one? What does the test result mean?
PSA test - Mayo Clinic
My psa increased from 4.9 to 7.3 in less than a year. Went for a prostate biopsy, Gleason score of 7. I had an aggressive level of tumor for age 63. I chose brachytherapy procedure with 15 follow-up external beam radiation visits that finished in Jan. `21. The Durham region cancer center @ the hospital on Simcoe st. was superb. Take a look on the Mayo clinic...link you posted, for all the procedures and jargon I`ve mentioned. As always..talk to your Doc. or NP. Early detection is key, this is nothing to fuck about with ,saved my life.

Others have already provided helpful answers. If still not clear, rest assured if your score is above the benchmark your doctor will recommend a follow up. Many lab results indicate where your score falls relative to the benchmark. Different labs can use different methodolgies that can change benchmarks but a benchmark of 4.0 is the most commonly used benchmark. Follow up will be recommended if your score is above 4 but as mentioned by eddie, a high score does not always mean you have prostate cancer. I trust that you are not doing this on your own. Have a medical doctor guide you.
False positives are very common.

Going in for a surgical biopsy on your prostate when it is unnecessary because of a false positive may better than cancer but it is hardly a picnic.
MRI scans are used more often nowadays. Perineal biopsies are more common nowadays and they are done using local anaesthetic with less chance of infection than the recital version.
False positive is a misnomer by the way, PSA tests are accurate and used properly can detect cancer early or show it’s caused by a large or infected prostate.

WTF is that.
I had that biopsy. My Urologist inserted a small device up the back passage - sounded llke a staple gun - took 10-12 darts through the intestine wall into the prostate.
No local. No Tylenol. It was not painful - for my level tolerance - but a friend warned me: "Be ready for a surprise the next time you JO." Juice like lumpy catsup

I opted for extreme bracciatherapy, at Sunnybrook. The controlled "hi radiation inside the prostate" procedure Required epidural) + 15 conventional radiation sessions after work.
Cancer burned right out. No regrets but there is a price for everything. Nerve damage - punching tiny holes through the cable of nerves in my groin (Perineal insertion).

In hindsight - i should have done some endurance training BEFORE the treatment. I lost endurance - weight down 175 -.> 128 in 10 yrs.
But got what is important ... big O is intense, when I can get there - though it's 'dry' heeves (makes "cleanup easy," the girls kid me.
Not incontinent ... not irregular, great appetite ... hornier now than at 60
and .... I have discovered ... the respect, as an old man, that I generally receive from Asian women. Well ... you can't put a $$$ on it and I don't try to.😼
