Now before accusing Putin, let's have a decent investigation on the Russian spy's death in Britain. Shall I remind you that the British intelligence was also suspected?

Now Putin has shown that he is far smarter than what is described in this article. Besides some oligarchs are far more interested in having these jobs done than Putin - would it be just to make him such a bad publicity -, and guess who hosts them?

Putin cannot allow the United States to deploy its missile defense system to Eastern Europe. The system poses a direct threat to Russia’s national security. If Putin planned to deploy a similar system in Cuba or Mexico, the Bush administration would immediately invoke the Monroe Doctrine and threaten to remove it by force.

For me, this is the most pertinent part of the article. Whether democratic or otherwise, Russia is a great power with great power interests. Sad for those countries in its sphere of influence, (It puts one in mind of the quote from Porfirio Diaz: "Poor Mexico! So far from god and so close to the United States.") but shaping the behaviours of regimes along its borders is all a part of the game.

I doubt that the threat of US arms is sufficient to change this basic reality. The west can either accommodate to it or find itself accommodated to it. I think the better part of wisdom would be to play nice with Moscow in its own backyard. Nothing good can come from acting otherwise.

Firstly, you have described the exact behavior of the US, on how personal freedom can be an excuse for everything.

Secondly, there has not been any country that applied communism the way it was written, so let's not extrapolate on how people would do in it.

OTOH, I can recall the Shrub saying that he "looked in Putin's eyes and got a sense of his soul," which was a compliment.

Given what we know about the Shrub's judgment ...

BTW, Face-boy, what doesn't NewsMax remind us of that little compliment that the Shrub paid the Poot? They seem to conveniently forget whenever the facts don't match they story they want.
