I have received two calls on my cell phone recently (one today) where the caller says I called them. A woman called me this afternoon saying that she got a call from my number and she was returning it. She said there was no voicemail. It's the correct number but I explained that I hadn't made any calls today (except to my mom and to my credit card company).

I've heard about a scam using people's (647) numbers.... anyone?

The scammers can steal your number and use it. I got a call from cra and an arrest warrant issued for my arrest from my mom's number.

Likely a scam. If nothing else you verefied that your number is active for lists they sell to businesses. You'll probably start seeing an uptick in telemarketing calls in the comings weeks and months.

It’s called “Phone Number Spoofing” where somebody anywhere in the world can make a phone call and program the call display to show any phone number they choose.

It’s very difficult to trace and stop.

You can google the term.

I've had this to where someone calls me and said I called them. I assured them I never called but he was pretty adamant I did.
