Due to the amount of times i have failed in the past, i decided to keep my mouth shut here til i was well under way. I have now made it a week, and this time really feels different.

I d/l a little program that's for incentive i suppose...here is what it does....

I have been quit for 1 Week, 6 hours, 5 minutes and 14 seconds (7 days). I have saved $59.33 by not smoking 181 cigarettes. I have saved 15 hours and 5 minutes of my life.

Pretty cool eh!!

well, i'm impressed...the rest of the world can kiss my toe...

have a great day everyone!!!

BRAVA!

By quitting smoking you're doing the best thing for yourself that you possibly could.

Keep it up - 3 weeks nicotine free and you'll be free from it forever.

good Going!

Fantastic Corena, keep it up!
I did a similar thing when I quit smoking, I kept reminding myself how long I had'nt had a smoke for and re assuring myself that if I had gone that long, I could do it again, ie, its been a day without a smoke, I can go another day, been a week, I can go another week and so on
It took me literally years to get over the addiction tho, so often I wanted to light up, but resisted the urge for fear of starting up again.
I now have no desire at all to have a cig.

Cheers Corena!

DATYdude, Im not flaming you here by any means, but I disagree with that comment, I had quit for a year previously and figured I had it beat ( I used to enjoy smoking) I started to have the occasional "social" smoke by bumming from freinds, pretty soon I was feeling like a bum and bought a pack, the first pack lasted over a week, the next pack under a week, then I was right back at it, a pack plus per day!
You can never feel like you've licked the the habbit , you have to constantley remind yourself you cant and dont want to smoke(at least for many years) or you'll be back at smoking!
Just my opinion

I agree with you GB, it's something you have to fight constantly, but it takes about 3 weeks to get rid of the physical addiction, and the cravings subside.

Then it's the psychological battle that has to be won, which is hard but is do-able.

Ex-smokers in my opinion can't have "social" smokes if they deny the inherent danger in doing so. I've had social smokes on vacation and a couple of times while drinking in an SC, but I've also made sure that I don't continue to smoke after, and that it doesn't get habitual.

Other than vacation I've had 2 smokes in the last (almost) 4 years.

Good luck

That's the spirit, Corena! Did I hear oral fixation???

I am reading that modern school girls don't think ghat's sex. Shows what they know.

Good luck with the quitting. Just hang in there and you will wonder why you ever did it.

Here's a quote:

"Three weeks nicotine free and you'll be free from it forever."

The real thing to remember is that only ONE cigarette - this week, next month, or five years from now - will send you back to the habit. You've gotta quit COMPLETELY and for ever. Dam,n, I quit in 1970, and I would STILL like a ciagarette.

But I know if I try it, I'll be back to three packs a day in a week!
