I'm no legal expert, but I believe that lawyers are assigned to cases and don't have a lot of choice. In our society all people, regardless of how despicable, are granted to right to a fair trial. I'm sure the lawyers assigned to the case were more tortured at having to fulfill their duty than actually trying to get Rafferty off. Don't blame the lawyers. John Rosen, the lawyer for Paul Bernardo, I recall was widely respected for the defense that he presented, while remaining respectful to all parties involved.I don't know how a lawyer can live with themselves trying to get scum like this acquitted.
I couldn't agree more. Rodney Stafford has maintained class and dignity, I don't know if I could have done that if it was my daughter.I'm sure when the jurors see all the character evidence that wasn't allowed they will be very happy with their verdict. Now they just have to declare him a dangerous offender and tuck him away in the hole he derserves.
As a side note Tori's father was the epitome of dignity throughout this. His imterviews on television were heartbreaking. How he maintained control is beyond me. I could see how he wanted to lash out. Real justice would be to give this man time alone with Rafferty.........and a bat with nails in it.
Well, no. We choose our cases. The trial is attractive in that it is a high profile case and defence counsel perhaps convinced himself there was a "reasonable doubt" that his client was not proven guilty. That's all there has to be to merit an acquittal.I'm no legal expert, but I believe that lawyers are assigned to cases and don't have a lot of choice. I find it strange that in cases like this the general public wants the convicted to be thrown in with the "General Population" where real justice can be served.I do hope he goes into Gen Pop, save the tax payer some money and give Rodney a true sense of closure !
That is the sad part.pity he won't get put in general population!!!!
So you think we should be like Iran? his life and suffering would be ended then. I'd rather he spends the rest of his life looking over his shoulder wondering when the end will come, a long slow torture.in some countries, if a child rapist was found guilty, the penalty is beheading or to be hanged in public.. i believe, this guy, deserves it..
