Hello All,

Just wondering what people are thinking of the Raptors trade with the Knicks of:

To Knicks: Bargnani

To Raptors: Camby, Novak, future 1st rounder in 2016 and a possible 2nd Rounder

I am thinking the rumor trade of Bargnani to Clippers for Butlers expiring contract would have been better?

Fantastic trade. Camby may be on his way out for yet another asset (buyout if all else fails). They can now proceed in using the Amnesty Clause on some other player on the roster (Kleiza comes to mind).

Steve Novak is a sharp shooter that the Raptors could use. His presence at the end of games would give the Raptors more of a fighting chance when closing out games at the offensive end.

Draft picks never hurt a team. These assets may be part of a bigger package to bring in a player the Raptors need.

Brilliant if it goes thru!

Key to the trade is novak, draft pick, and cap relief. 3 pt shooting use to be our strength in the past. It was one of the worse last year. Adding novak will help solidify that weakness.

Thank God Colangelo is gone. It will take years to heal from his scatterbrained visionless management but at least it has started.

Actually is it now:

Knicks: Bargnani

Raptors: Camby, Novak, Quentin Richardson (agreed to a sign and trade to get deal done), 1st round pick in 2016 and two 2nd round picks forget the years

You traded away one bad salary for 3 bad salaries and a first round pic 3 summers from now ... Wouldn't Amestying Bargs be better then this ? Camby doesn't want to be here ( wants a chance at a title )

I like the deal. Camby is 39 and either retires(not likely) or is amnestied. Richardson only has 1 year of his contract guaranteed and Novak might help as his shooting should extend the flppr. The draft picks are a bonus and can be used as picks(most likel) or as trade bait.

I thought about that amnesty thing for Camby but he doesn't qualify . His salary was signed last summer and you can't amnesty new contracts . That is a good point about that draft pic ie can used in a trade .

If Camby doesn't want to play here, fine, try to trade him, it really doesn't matter what you get for him. He should bring a veteran presence to the line up if he stays.
I was not aware he could not be amnestied.
The good part is Bargnani is out of here, (if NY can get him in shape and willing to work he could help them big time, big IF) and the Raps got bodies and picks for him. They got a lot more than I expected but supposedly there were a number of teams interested,

IF there was more teams interested then why not trade him out of your division or conference .. I have a feeling Bargs is going to come to camp in shape and motivated .

If the Raps were even close to going deep in the playoffs I would agree with you. In their current state take the best deal offered.

camby wanting or not wanting to play doesn't matter. its not like bargs was traded to get him. he was just part of the package that NY can afford for bargs. Novak is green. Its all about getting rid of a 10M/yr player that doesn't deliver...and the fresh future picks.

That sucks!

How are the Raptors going to get in on the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes without Bargniani?

by trading Rudy Gay for Charlie V and Rodney Stuckey....let the Wiggins sweepstakes begin!
Call me crazy but getting a back up PG like Stuckley and Charlie V who can produce better then Bargs ... How are we weaker ? I know we lose Rudy Gay but Charlie V loves T.O and since both players will be playing for their next contract then we might get them to over achieve
