Probably works with a recovery disc but my friend doesn't have one.
If it is an old computer and you do not know where the recovery disc are, then load Ubuntu OS free off the internet.

Microsoft will only allow you to make one set of the OS recovery disc.
If you have lost your recovery disc you are out of luck, unless it is still under warranty Microsoft will not help you. XP is not a current OS. I would suggest that you load Ubuntu on your old computer if the OS is corrupt or you can not find your recovery disc. You can also load Ubuntu side by side with windows, I highly recommend this. Ubuntu is a free OS you can get off the internet. Ubuntu works very well with old computers and is faster than XP. It is also very virus resistant. ( no anti-virus needed )

If you have a new computer that is still under warranty, Microsoft will sell you a new disc if you have lost it. If you tell them that the disc you made does not work, they will send you a new set at no cost.

Not a computer geek

An update.
I recently got "infected" by this scam.
But I use specific "user" for clandestine webbing.
Shut down and did a "restore to earlier date", from my "normal" user, and...all gone.

A question to all the high tech guys out there. My computer just got infected by the RCMP virus, standard crap, freezed the screen(but not the rest of the computer), could not get rid of that screen, told to pay a fine...blah blah blah. Since my other screens were not frozen, I quickly downloaded Malwarebytes on another screen and it quarantined some threat. I restarted the computer and the RCMP screen is no longer there. Does that mean my computer is fine now? I am just too cheap to take my computer to Future Shop and pay $60 just for them to tell me my computer is fine.

Personallly I pay for Norton every year. Usually takes care of the problem BEFORE it gets infected. Any other issues they have very good anti-virals thaat are constantly updated. Takes care of cookies and othet things that slow down the computer as well.
I also use CCCleaner as well. Free download and good for the smaller stuff on a regular basis.
