What do you think of rechargeable batteries? I have a few AA and AAA. Bit more expensive than regular but they seem more cost efficient longer term.

I get my batteries in bulk from Home Depot. Check the dates on the battery, they can last you up to10 years. I use them up long before that.

HDX AAA Alkaline Battery (48-Pack) $17.78 / each
HDX AA Alkaline Battery (38-Pack) $9.88 / each
HDX 9V Alkaline Battery (8-Pack) $18.48 / each
HDX Combo Pack Alkaline Battery (Includes 24 x AA, 24 x AAA, 2 x 9V), 50 Pieces $19.94 / each

I like rechargeable batteries because of their long term effectiveness compared to reg AA & AAA batteries. If used a lot then keeping some extras charged and ready for use is well worth it. The only downside is thinking you have charged batteries and when needed finding out you don't. Been there done that. Also less toxic material disposed of when buried compared to standard AA & AAA batteries.

There are different types of rechargeables. It seems Ni-MH is the most popular now.

Question: What happens if one tries to recharge a Ni-MH using a Ni-Cd charger?
