Because there's a lot of stigma around sex work , I frequently find myself in a situation where medicall proffesionals assume I have a disease. Frequently they want to actually treat me for diseases before my test results come in because they believe so strongly that I am dirty or disgusting but I don't really do high risk stuff.
So at one sexual health clinic , they asked me if I wanted to start making a list of people I have seen so that when the results come in I had the ability to contact those people and they also give people the option to have the sexual health clinic or maybe the health department call all of these people. I'm not sure who exactly has the resources to call everyone's sexual partners.
They give you the option to hand off a list of people and they call everyone but they dont mention who it was that contracted the disease.
I knew a woman who was unfortunately offering services she shouldn't and she was told that she needed to quit doing what she was doing or run the risk of constantly being reinfected.
She quit. I know from her that they actually call these people and they're generally not very happy about the news. I think she was getting death threats.
The problem is that they do it anonymously , and they don't tell you who it is so it could turn into a witch hunt. People start trying to point the finger. If someone has had sex with a lot of people it's difficult for them to determine the source. I genuinely believe that the people who ask for unsafe services are pretty much asking to get a disease so I don't see them caring too much that they caught something.
I'm pretty sure they don't even say that it was a sex worker , they just say , "one of your sexual partners has contracted disease and you need to go get checked"
I have never received one of these calls and I
Have never had to use this service. I'm just curious and I asked a lot of questions.
The other problem is that women don't always ask for real phone numbers or real names and there's no way to contact people.
So they just go around with the disease , reinfecting people or they go to the next SP.
Unless they regularly get checked, there's no way for them to know. But what I know about men is that frequently you'll find that some men who engage in the most high risk behavior NEVER get tested. Or they haven't been tested since they were a teenager , or they haven't been tested for over a decade, sometimes longer. They just don't see the need.
SPs. let’s say you happen to have positive std test.
Do you notify clients ?
If you do, do you get any negative black leash or most clients appreciate your honesty.
For me I don’t want a STD but I do understand the risks involved and I feel open communication about positive test results between clients and Sp make this hobby safer.
I would definitely let anyone I been with aware if I my std tests were positive.
