I downloaded a DVD off the net and burned it to DVD. It plays fine but my remote barely works on it. I can select scenes but all the other functions don't work (i.e., zoom in, zoom out, different angles, etc.).

What am I doing wrong?

your battery is probably about to die. put new batteries in.

if the dvd is off the net then all extras will probably be stripped which includes different angles but "zoom in" is not a feature of the dvd specs but a feature of your dvd player. people will use dvdremake pro or vob blanker to strip off title sets off dvds. the main movie will be a title set and the trailer, fbi warning, etc will be other title sets within the dvd.

a badly stripped dvd may hamper the menu functions of a dvd and hence your remote control.

all the extras likely arent downloaded from the net, same as if you for example burn a DVD from sat/catv/copied from VHS tape, those functions arent part of the dvd encoding and won't function

If you copy something from sat, vhs, cable, theres no way in hell there will be different languages, different angles etc!
BTW, Dead remote batteries is the most assinine comment for "some of the functions to not work"

It's a dvd rip. I think it's working for others b/c everyone was posting thanks for the torrent. Which leads me to believe there's something wrong with my ripped copy...

Any of a number of factors might be working in concert here.

Yes, there might be a selection of targets which might not be working. And yes, there might be a selection of targets which dont' like certain sources. Unlikely, perhaps. But if all else fails, there might be some value in replacing the equipment along Meri road.

But I'd be much more interested in what happens when a close is awaited for the current tab. Care for another source? Select accordingly.

Chill, what Gentle Bear says is right. Angles, extra languages and subtitles are usually removed in a DVD rip. Nobody wants to download 9GB.

I tried the DVD out on another DVD player and it works just fine. So what gives? Why does my DVD player not run the special features?

The other DVD player allows full functionality; different angles, scenes selections, etc.

I'll PM you the torrent.

I've had the same problem with my DVD player in the past. I always thought it was the torrent, but now I'm thinking it's the player.

I'm using an RCA DRC220N player. I didn't realize but it's at least 5 years old (bought it in 2002). Maybe that's a factor.

I checked out the sites you linked but for every good review there's a bad review so I can't really tell.
