The re-introduction of the Humber Marshlands has been a big success, hopefully wildlife that has long been extinct from the city return. I still remember the painted turtles that used to bask at Sunnyside Beach from my preteen years.

A more ambitious project is underway, returning the Don River to it's natural flow. Turning the river's mouth into a canal caused huge problems with the flooding of the islands and the silting up of Toronto Harbour. Hopefully it will also slow down the erosion of the Scarborough Bluffs.

I've been told that these lovely creatures have already taken up residence at the Humber Marsh.

Thanks for the links.

I have regularly biked through the Portlands the last few years to view the progress of this massive project.

This past week was my first tour thru the area this year and let me say, it is really starting to shape up to what it will eventually be. The new bridges are landmarks and the water passages thru the new lands is coming into form.

Just be ready for about 80-100K new folks living in condos that are slated to be built on the port lands in next 30 years.

Gardiner is slated to have a tighter turn when rebuilt, and that will open up more lots to face Keating Channel

The reason they're greening the docklands is to reduce flooding and better control of water management. There is a water treatment and a storm runoff plant north of the Keating Channel. Any homes built near the site would have to deal with the daily smell of shit. The ersatz truckers who tried to occupy Queen's Park were re-directed to the parking lot near the plants. "I love the smell of shit in the morning".

Currently there are plans to build a fifth water treatment plant for the city. RC Harris is located at the foot of Victoria Park.

The rebuild of the roads will raise them about 6 feet.
A bunch of the existing building deemed heritage worthy will be moved to new higher foundations.

All the soil/fill from foundations for new building lots will raise them to the elevation of the raised roads.

With two water treatment plants in the area, I don't see how this will work? It would become a boondoggle similar to the Eglinton LRT. Are you trolling?
