This whole topic reeks of racist remarks and assumptions that blacks are different from other races. Mr Bandit you stated that "blacks should show a willingness to work and learn and the chances will be the same as the next guy". Sorry to inform you that I work harder than the next person at work and the reason being is because i have too. Where as the white co workers have a attitude similar to yours, that this job and company owes them something.
Mr Bandit there is not one black CEO of a major corporation in Canada. Xerox use to have one, but he went back to the USA.
Quest 4 Less i made the remark about the cab drivers because it is a very popular example of weeding out people you do not want to become doctors. Many of those same people end up in the USA and funny how they seem to have no problem with there qualifications.

That's a bit disturbing - that the US ( who we perceive to a have a poorer record in racial tolerance ) would provide more opportunities . Not sure if it's true - because how the heck do you prove it one way or the other . Nothing would surprise me though .
The Canadian theory of promoting multiculturalism is in direct contrast to the "melting pot " approach in the US . I'm not sure which will be most effective in the long run in eliminating biases . Fostering cultural seperations , as we do here , makes me a little uneasy . It is human nature to be suspicious of anything that is different and I'm worried that encouraging differences will actual perpetuate prejudice .

On a issue more specific to this Board I have always seen this hobby as an easy way of interacting with females of other racial origins . MPA's in particular seem to be represented by the widest variety of ethnic backgrounds and racial origins . Kinda fun .

I recently work for a large automotive manufacturer and could not believe the amount of racist comments from upper management.
I even went so far as to blame certain religions for all of the problems in the world. Small minds.

I had one VP a woman blast me for hiring a male receptionist.
Not because he wasn't professional and qualified but because he was a he and woman are receptionist.

The company lawyer requested a new assistant and he wanted (I am not joking here) a pretty busty black girl in her mid 20's.

I laughed thinking he was joking. But he wasn't. I told him I wouldn't hire based on looks/race/sex and he said told me to forget it. I latter found out he used a temp service to find what he was looking for and guess what they did. That was when I quit I didn't want the companies reputation to drag me down as HR manager.

By the way the VP of HR was the worst of the lot.
Sexual harrassment all around.
