What's really sad is how it has failed to sink in that whatever you want to run on Linux you can run on Mac but not vice versa. We've been over this many times before but you simply can't seem to learn.

This is really sad!

If that Apple app Store hooked you sooooooo you would LUV the several Linux Repositories where MANY MORE apps/programs are and they are available and all FREE!......

If I was going to talk about you I would say so.

Anyways, you're talking about a new phone that's only launching now. The iPhone 4 has been out for well over nine months at this point. If you don't understand the phone industry's one-upmanship by now then you never will. And, yes, I am talking directly about you now.
If you're going to imply shit, you'll get called on it Dani girl. :)

The previous Samsung Galaxy was quite impressive and this one just takes it (S2) quite a few notches higher.
But it's nice to see that even an Apple fanboi like yourself can indirectly admit that Apple isn't the only one to put out "quality" products if you admit there is a game to one company upping the ante to the others.
Bravo.

There have been quite a few people who saw there was a world outside the gates of Scientology and left quite happily.
One day Dani, one day... lol

What an inane question. Look around your place and ask how many of each item do you have.
I have and it's probably why I got rid of a LOT of the stuff I had, it felt great getting rid of a lot of it and I still have a few things left. It's quite cathartic and very liberating, you should give it a try.
You never answered the question of the app stores.
I would assume it's why you edited out the rest, but I'll ask again, how does the app store from Android differ from Apple's?
What apps do you need (probably more of a want in your case) that the Android store doesn't have and Apple does have?

iPhone 4 has been out for 13 months now. someone once told me that year old tech(news) was ancient history in todays evolving market. new phones are released almost quarterly by Android to prove that point
Apples next phone rumored launch is still up in the air for release in either sept, oct, dec and first quarter next year....really weird they broke away from the yearly june release cycle, i wonder why?

First off, you're only inferring that I am implying anything about you. Get over yourself.

Second, only an idiot would not recognize the one-upmanship that goes on. Will you come back later on and rave about the strengths of the next iPhone? Be interesting to see...

First, what made you think I have a ton of stuff? In fact, I don't.

Second, to be honest, I started out with the iPhone and then got my hands on the Galaxy. I simply got the majority of the apps I wanted on the iPhone and only a couple on the Galaxy. But, the Android market is pretty sparse looking and very simplistic. No previous apps of the week, selection is not as large, and stuff seems to come out for Apple first.

Now, let me ask you, have you used both? I know that WP has not done either but he still yaps around here.

I'm curious...how many of you "experts" actually have access on a daily basis to both of these phones? Let me be specific...the iPhone 4 and the Galaxy S (not the S2 but any of the S1 models).

Actually I'm on a galaxy right now swyping away, something Apple desperately needs. My cousin is an Apple user, but not in a cult like way. I've used his iPhone plenty of times and it's good but it's definitely not the most superior product out there.
As for apps, a good browser, couple of mind games, conversion program and that's about it.
What apps could you not find on Android's store that you did on Apple's?

Oh good, someone who is more than just a yapper.

Ok, I'll bite, I love my Strategery and GLWG games from the Apple store...neither of which are in the Android store. RTM, Bloomberg, Tripit are there but no Simplenote, no Stanza.

Does the above answer your question?

I use an ipod touch 4 which is same screen, same processor and same memory as an iphone4 so i am very familiar with the app store. i recommended to my sister a samsung galaxy s ages ago and she loves it and i play with it weekly when i visit....great phone. I will probably grab a Samsung Galaxy 2 when it's available here in just over a week from now.

Apps are highly overated. i use about 4 on a regular basis and have about 30 in total. everything available to ios is available to Android, if not the exact one an alternative is always available.

here is Simplenote for Android http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/productivity/simplenote_fyjl.html and here is a highly rated alternative to Stanza http://www.aldiko.com/ (stanza themselves recommended this alternative on there website)
instead of simplenote i use evernote which is an excellent app and i believe higher rated.

also Android are not only limited to 1 app store as Apple are, i can use Android Market, Amazon Appstore and others. choice is a wonderful thing.

i have no idea what stategery is or GLWG but i don't play many games on silly small screens other than Angry Birds
to each their own.

I use digifit multiple times a week, there are multiple vendors of ANT+ dongles/cases for the iPhone 4 (and 3GS) - one of the advantages of a phone that sells in volume.

LMAO! I'm sure many Android users use this or one of the many other fitness apps available, multiple times on a weekly basis...probably cheaper for them too
http://www.smarthf.com/Products/HeartRateMonitor/GetFitwithaHeartRateMonitor.aspx works for ALL android devices...you were saying something about volume?

no dongles needed!

It's too bad apparently the sound quality on this phone as a music player took a big step back from the original Galaxy S.. apparently the dac in it is inferior by a long shot to the original, which was a really good audio player. Its probably the only downside I've found other than being a bit mixed on a screen/phone > 4".

Great links, thanks. Just downloaded those two. :)
I'm not a gamer myself, for reasons like you, small screen, plus, I'm too busy for that stuff.
But for quickies (waiting in an office, in your car for someone, etc) get these, unblock me, memory trainer, labryinth are the ones I have and give them some play time for 5-10 minutes.
Others that don't get play time after awhile now, X Construct, word search, air control lite, Find next number.

Otherwise, I just surf, email and phone on the thing.
Don't understand the need to have so many apps really, they (devs) create the "want" or the "need", but really, do we "need" all these apps?

Besides, apps might be obsolete in a few years

I use mine mostly when I ride my bike and use the ANT+ speed / cadence sensor along with the HRM - also supports running (foot pods) and power meters.... Cloud based data storage and Training Peaks integration. Goes without saying it supports mapping and Bluetooth music - a lot of high-end functionality for $15.

I wonder how many Android apps have sold a number equal to 1% of iOS devices... LOL

(note that there are 200m iOS devices, 425k apps that have 14b downloads)

Very powerful app, competes well with the Garmin 800 that sells for $450

I'm glad you're happy with it, because that's all that really matters.
though i'm sure the Android users that can't have that particular app will find an alternative and be just as happy

btw i meant to say .1% ;)

the sound quality issue is a little disappointing, maybe a firmware fix or software fix will take care of it. none of the reviews i have read so far have mentioned this issue, but i have no reason not to believe you.
I use my ipod as my main portable music player.
i prefer the larger screens, my ipod touch is just too small, and the larger screen makes me less likely to buy a tablet device anytime soon
