As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I happened to catch Rex Murphy’s comments on the war last night during the airing of The National on CBC. I was very surprised at some of his comments but overall I agreed with his position. Coming from the CBC I thought it would ruffle some feathers there.

It is always good to present differing views and to keep an open mind. Usually most points of views have valid points.

I found yesterday's fifth estate Special: "Inside the War on Iraq" quite interesting. The US congress and senate had passed a bill to sanction Saddam after he gasses the Kurds in 1988. But lobbyist said that these sanctions would only hurt US business interests. The Reagan white house was not in favor and the bill was killed. The following year the US did more business with Saddam than ever. Talk about appeasement if some want to throw that word around indiscriminately. It was a very interesting documentary. Yes it is good that finally Saddam was taken out. The only questions ever were when it should have been done and how.

I too saw the episode in question and I was astonished by what the American lobbyist were doing. Shameful! Politics is always a dirty game and played by the Dirtiest of individuals.

Your question about when Saddam should have been taken out and how is a good one. I don't know "when" is a good time. In the coming months I am sure we will hear opinions from the Iraqi population on whether we waited too long or did the wrong thing entirely.

I have a question. Of all the regime changes in recent history how times did we say there is a new bloody tyrant there but at least he's our bloody tyrant.
