I just read yesterday in a paper called Thornhill post which named the top 10 rib places. There is also Toronto and Bayview Post. Get one. To be honest I remember the forth place because I go there and its called Eddy's on Yonge strret south of Hyw 7. They all will make you want some. They are not chain restaurants.

...any of these places.

I can never remember the name of the only decent Rib place I have been to in the GTA. It is on College and something.

Let me go google...

Ok..I'm back...here is

http://www.philsoriginalbbq.com/

Phil's Orginal BBQ
838 College St (College & Ossington)
416-532-8161

This is the ONLY place I have been to in the GTA for ribs more than once. I am not claiming I have been every place...but I have been to many of the place's mentioned in this thread (including the orginal "Purple Pig" downtown - over rated BIG TIME) and Phil's is the only thing that comes close to being worth while.

I have seen on a couple of message boards about food that BBQ Ribs are one of the few things that Canadians in T.O. will admit to having no clue about and I would agree...because as good as Phil's is compared to the competition...and having won all sorts of awards...I would call them "average" at best. Completely unnoteworthy. They wouldn't win shit in Chicago or Atlanta, nor are they as good as the one place I would go in Manahattan (didn't go looking for ribs in Brooklyn or the Bronx while I was in NYC). But for here...they are the best you can do.

Hope you have (relatively) low standards...

Agree with you 100% about Eddy's, great food and service with real waiter's and Angelo to make you feel welcome - if you want the same Rib's but don't want to go to Thornhill, try Angelo's brother in law's place - Senior's, off Young just south of St. Clair - same food - same, prices - city tradition - love 'em both and Angelo and Eddy both make you feel like old friends.

BTW - had some decent ribs last night at Montana's - pretty good actually and all you can eat on Wednesday - so if you are in for quantity instead of quality it is a good choice - as the ribs aren't bad -

Take a trip across the border and hit the Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester or Syracuse. Another good call for BBQ is Kentucky Gregs in Depew, NY Of course you can make your own and blow away those crapy local joints.

I like Baton Rouge the best. Not on your list: Jack Astor
Baton varies depend on location. Swiss C is good.

Purple pig have good & bad days at least the downtown location. There's Chicago eatery by same name, also known for top ribs.

Ribfest usually attract out-of-towners from TX & LO, some of the best tasted.
