Install and play around with Gimp and after awhile you may not need Photoshop.

GIMP is okay, but there are some plug-in's in PS that I like which GIMP will never have unfortunately.

The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free, open-source raster graphics imaging editor that is quickly becoming a strong challenger to Photoshop. GIMP may not yet be able to replace Photoshop for everything Photoshop can still do. But we can take one thing off the list (well, sort of). GIMP can, in fact, use Photoshop Plugins with relatively little effort, with the use of the GIMP PSPI plugin from Tor Lillqvist .

Linux can do just about anything your little heart desires ;)
get the PSPI Plugin here http://tml.pp.fi/gimp/pspi.html

there are only a couple of plug-in exceptions, but i would expect there are alternative plug-ins that do what you need.

Linux FTW!

Looks like someone else is declaring Desktop Linux dead:

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/open-source/the-linux-desktop-is-dead-long-live-the-linux-desktop/9562

Vaughan-Nichols is a long-time Linux user and used to be editor-in-chief of DesktopLinux. Here is what he says:

"Today, though, I declare traditional Linux desktop to be dead.

It’s never going to catch up with Windows or Mac OS X in user popularity. It’s never going to show up as a common option from mainstream vendors."

"Sure, Ubuntu is the most popular Linux desktop, but to paraphrase Robin Williams, that’s like being the best-dressed woman on radio. "

"So, while the fat-client Linux desktop isn’t going to go away, and I’m certainly going to keep use it, I don’t see it growing out of its niche."

P.S. WoodPecker, note that Vaughan-Nichols calls Vista a dog of an OS.

Uh, you do realize that you're the one who's whistling past the graveyard when you ignore all of this, right? You can't be that dense...
Apple fanbois will soil their panties over this news MORE!
This move by M$ will hurt Apple far more than Linux!
You would even more dense not to see this!.......

Memory issues or maybe reading comprehension problems nibs???

Hope it isn't the results of ingesting too much OxyContin!

Why is M$ even in this thread? Are you lost again?
nibs you appear more befuddled than a Limbaugh lemming.....
Perhaps you should ask the dim-witted OP of this silly thread thread. For it was he who brought M$ into this thread in Post #1, nibs.

OTOH maybe all you require is to start taking some Centrum® Multivitamins with Ginko!

This helps to explain your need for a KISS OS such as OSX. Your wee brain may be incapable of handling anything more complex being offered by M$ or Linux.....:eyebrows:
