Welcome back, Guyroch.
Have been through this .

On another note . Roger Federer off to another Semi Final but it's Novak again Damm !! Can he beat Novak ? He is now 64-7 which means he has now won the most games at Wimbledon.

If you can believe it . Roger can become number 1 player in the World if he wins it all .

I hope he can beat Novak, I really do. I want to see him tie Sampras with 7 Wimbledon titles.

Number 1? Really? That would be incredible.

Did Sampras actually win 7? Wow, that is amazing. I think he won them all before the age of 31. Who is the oldest male to win Wimbledon in the modern era? I think Rosewall was the oldest runner-up when he got slaughtered by a 21 year old Jimmy Conners.

Another reason I still consider him the best of all time. Rod Laver won at age 31. (I didn't check past 1960)

Actually, the Rocket was 2 months shy of 31 and Sampras was 2 months shy of 29.

Tennis is like sex. There is a "best before date" and 30 is pretty much the cutoff date for pro tennis.

Obviously lots of exceptions apart from Federer. David Ferrar is reportedly playing his best tennis ever at age 30. He played exceptionally well yesterday against Murray.

Saying "lots of exceptions" is too broad. Yes, there may be some exceptions. Tennis like swimming is a young man's game.
30 isn't like it used to be ... With athletes today eating better and training better and dare I use the word " HGH " they can maintain their level of play . Also you have to be motivated cause tennis is almost a year long season and the completion is fearce .

Tough sledding to beat Djokovic but Fed has been impressive so far. If he wins , it will be a Murray and Fed final. Man.. if Murray can find a way to win it will be something. He showed more mental strength then I have ever seen against Ferrer. The old Andy would have collapsed. I have read that a Wiby win for Murray would amount to a lifetime in earnings of up to 400m!!!!! He should handle Tsonga, but Fed and Djokovic would be tougher..esp Djokovic.

All true. However nobody over 30 has been winning at Wimbledon/the Grand Slams.

Fed's level of play is phenomenal for an over 30 guy.

Agassi was great over 30 too because he took his training so seriously. Whereas Sampras' game didn't age well past 30. His serve was still tops but the movement and groundies didn't hold up.

Against anybody other than Djoko or Rafa, Fed's the favourite and he usually delivers. But Djoko and Rafa are absolute beasts who are younger. Tough to overcome that. Although Fed did beat Djoko in last year's French. It can happen but I don't expect him to win. Still I will cheer for Fed tomorrow. Fed & Murray final!

How old was Agassi when he won his first major? I think he wasted his late teen and early 20's messing with the ladies instead of concentrating on his tennis.

Murray beats Tsonga 7 - 5 in 4th set.

So it will be the young pretender vs the old master!
